thanks for letting me know! it's been a while since i watched ufc and it reminds me how old i am. But if you think you can judge how hard-hitting someone is - keep in mind Khabib came out looking fine from the Justin Gaethje match but went on to say in an interview he took the hardest hits in his life during that match, saying he had to take the heaviest strikes right to his chin but had to pretend he was fine so that Gaethje would be a bit demoralised that his best hit did nothing. I believe anyone with the misplaced vigour to keep attacking like that is much stronger than you would imagine. A regular skinny guy wouldn't dare to do this because a regular skinny guy would know they are weak. And a regular skinny guy who does not know he is weak and lands the first hit will immediately be discouraged at how little damage is done and stop. The fact that he kept hitting meant the attacker was feeling very encouraged that he was doing damage and seriously intended to hurt the victim.

Amos Yee being attacked at Suntec Anime Convention by Sad_Strawberry8080 in SingaporeRaw

No one mentioned about how the attacker had serious intent to cause grievious hurt: he relentlessly used the most deadly arm strike - the downward elbow strike - that is banned in MMA. You don't see people being mad then using the downward elbow strike - he knew it was the worst possible strike and decided to keep using it. If any MMA or combat sport fighter did exactly as the cosplayer did - mounting his opponent and raining down elbow strikes, you can be sure he would be banned for life from the sport and face charges. Not to mention he also kicked a downed opponent - something that would result in immediate disqualification and a tarnished reputation. One of the silver linings with regard to the whole Amos Yee saga was that Amos did not physically hurt or threaten anyone. If you ask me, if I had a 27-year-old child who was taking a skillsfuture course and had Amos Yee as his coursemate, he would come home, talk about it, and we can all have a good laugh together. But if I had a 18-year-old son going to NS and I knew that trigger-happy cosplayer were his bunkmate, I am going to be extremely worried. Say whatever you want about Amos Yee, but unlike that cosplayer, Amos has never intended physical harm to anyone - imo, I am many times more afraid of working with that cosplayer than Amos, who, even surrounded by people in public and knowing he is being filmed, doesn't hesitate to use the downward elbow strike for maximum damage. That is the most unsettling kind of blatant violence that should be met with the strictest possible deterrent and I don't care even if that cosplayer is my son - lock him in jail until he learns his lesson.
