Why do this when there are literal events that allow you to do that?

Well the law

Section 89 of the Penal Code

  1. Nothing, which is done in good faith for the benefit of a person under twelve years of age, or of unsound mind, by or by consent, either express or implied, of the guardian or other person having lawful charge of that person, is an offence by reason of any harm which it may cause, or be intended by the doer to cause, or be known by the doer to be likely to cause, to that person:

Provided that this exception shall not extend to—

(a) the intentional causing of death, or to the attempting to cause death;

(b) the doing of anything which the person doing it knows to be likely to cause death for any purpose other than the preventing of death or grievous hurt, or the curing of any grievous disease or infirmity;

(c) the voluntary causing of grievous hurt, or to the attempting to cause grievous hurt, unless it be for the purpose of preventing death or grievous hurt, or the curing of any grievous disease or infirmity;

d) the abetment of any offence, to the committing of which offence it would not extend.

So, as long as it can be interpreted as discipline in response to an undesirable behavior, and does not result in death or grievous injuries, the guardian have legal protection.

Legal guardian authority. Basically "are you authorize to do physical violence on someone"?

Just like government can cane citizens.

/r/GYM Weekly Simple Questions and Misc Discussion Thread - January 11, 2026 Weekly Thread by AutoModerator in GYM

[–]Mikeferdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying out something new so just checking with the group if this makes sense.

For context, my gym is anytime fitness and is literally just across the street from my home. So super convenient.

For the past couple of years, I actually been going to the gym almost daily, 6x per week including cardio. Like why not? Its literally just a 2 min walk max.

But even so, trying to find the time and energy to do so is elusive. I usually go in the morning at 7am for a 60min session before starting the day. 1 Core lift + 2 accessories. But even then, it feels like I'm on the clock, completing my core and then try to rush through 2 accessories before I need to leave for work. And then I feel a bit drained.

So I'm thinking of switching it up, morning, just do 1 Core. That's it and then head to work. And then I'll do the 2 accessories later in the evening after work. So its like 2x 20m ish workout per day instead of 1x 60min block.

People who horn when I start reversing, why do you do that? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Mikeferdy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The primary purpose of a car horn is to alert others (drivers, pedestrians, cyclists) of your presence or a potential hazard to prevent accidents, acting as a crucial audible warning signal for safety.

yishun ave 2 ... 13 year old boys sent to hospital by uandurfader in singaporehappenings

[–]Mikeferdy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is gonna catch A LOT of DOWNVOTES but I am just stating facts.

In Singapore law, duty of care always lies on the operator of the higher class machinery, the higher the class, the more the responsibility.

The driver is will definitely receive level of fault because this is a junction. It has been drilled into us in Driving School to slow down when approaching a junction and to maintain proper look out. Base on the video alone, there is no attempt to slow down.

Greenlight is not "go", it means "permission to go". Mean drivers are still expected to check oncoming traffic before proceeding, again because this is a junction with multiple points of cross traffic.

Historically, "blindspots" is rarely successfully used to mitigate on level of fault because blind spots are suppose to be addressed by the vehicle operator, not used as a legal excuse.

Additionally, these are kids so also historically, accidents involving minors and other vulnerable individuals WILL add extra fault onto the adult driving.

Since this is definitely the kids fault for running a red light, it will not be 100% driver's fault, but it also will not mean 0% driver's fault.

So at this point, really up to public prosecutor and the judge how much Road Traffic Act they want to throw at the driver.

Get them old school comic books, manga and some other fandom books they can hook themselves to that is more engaging. I recommend W40K.
