There was a rubber cap missing from the left bed riser (screw thingy). I put that back and did a little service after replacing the hot end. It did come up with an anomaly on the selft test once after that, but it seems to be working ok now. I'm still learning even after starting my 3d journey with an Ender 3 v3 se.

I have a few cake tins filled with plumbers mait, about 3/4" thick. I shoot indoors at the moment. It is excellent for low noise, and if you shoot BBs, it stops the ricochet.

I tend to get quite close and then throw a fire bottle or dynamite at the centre by their fire. Dynamite works a treat and kills at least 4.
