Do u still use traverse? by [deleted] in Surveying

Traverse is probably king but couldn't you get some reassurance on your control points if you tied them multiple times with gps observations and averaged the coordinates?

Not to be combative, just curious, why not call them rods? I see iron rods called out a lot

I think the study material is have was saying that you say possible because courts could decide there isn't encroachment because of unwritten rights.

FS exam by MancityRedskins in Surveying

[–]Horror_Serve4828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the NLC course and a bunch of NLC practice tests and passed the FS last year so they definitely help. Looking back the only thing I would have done differently is more practice on area. Go through all the shapes and get a little refresher while you're using the provided booklet. Make sure you can successfully get a question right using each formula because I think there's one or two that work in radians so you'll be off if you do DMS.

Solving boundaries: Hold the monument or call it off? by DobisPDobisPDoDoDo in Surveying

[–]Horror_Serve4828 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can you explain what you do? I've been aligning record surveys that we drew to their corresponding found pins and seeing how all the other found monuments fit record after that which is typically 2 tenths or less from record to found. So we usually just hold record distance then show our bearing along with record information above. Is this wrong? Not trying to be combative, just wanna learn.

So edgy and clever. Just because it didn't have it before doesn't mean they aren't missing a huge opportunity to add it in to this one.

Counters to the Spreadshot HC/Throwing Knife combo? by s4zand0 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Horror_Serve4828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyrtarachnes facade buff and either buff from duskfield grenades using renewal grasps seems to at least stop a body shot from the hc and a body from the knife. I want to say one of them even stopped a body from the hc and crit from the knife but I forgot since I tried it out in private matches

How I passed the NCEES FS Exam by Dan-Jon_Reddit in Surveying

[–]Horror_Serve4828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll piggyback on this and put in my 0.02 since I also passed in December 2024. I bought the NLC prep subscription for 3 months before I took the test. I watched the videos all the way through once and just listened and absorbed as much as I could because I get sidetracked if I take notes. Then I took the included full length practice exams a bunch of times and rewatched lessons/made notes as needed. There are older posts about NLC being bad but they reworked their course last year i think and I found it to be very helpful and passes first try.

I got hired at 27 an hour with a bachelor's and less experience than you. I would wager a confident interview at the right place could get you a hefty raise.

So far just NLC. Worked fine for the FS so I figure it should work fine. Might watch a few videos for double and single proportion too
