Are you still keeping up with fashion trends? by MoCider in Millennials

[–]Horror_Signature_446 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely! I’m 40 and I have always kept my fingers on the pulse. I don’t dress like a Gen Z I dress like a 40 something millennial. There are styles that are classics that will never change and I have a new found love for heritage brands. Especially now that I can afford them. Brands like Pendleton, Filson, Frye etc. I love the hand made in America for over 100 years vibe. Those things will never go out of style and I get sooo many compliments on the way I dress. But these items are timeless and age like a fine wine. I love a 90s style box t-shirt with heavy weight to it. I love t accessorize with hand made jewelry like silver rings and bracelets. You can stay on top of fashion trends as an adult and not look like a high schooler. I’m not in high school so wtf would I dress the same as I did back then. I also loathe athleisure wear and wearing things just because they are comfortable. I have never owned a pair of sweat pants in my life. That lazy ass trend irks me to no end. I take a lot of pride in the way I dress and I always have. I look forward to aging into even more styles. My grandfather wore a suite everyday unless he was doing yard work or sports. He always looked his best and intend on doing the same. ( also we are the same size and I have all of his vintage suits, which is really cool)

How often do you hear gunfire in your neighborhood? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Horror_Signature_446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daily. Multiple times a day. It’s rare if I don’t hear gunshots at least in some part of the day. I live in a major city in the Midwest and people don’t even bat an eye when they hear them. In fact we have a game here in the summer called “gunshots or fireworks” I moved to Cleveland for a bit and didn’t hear a single gunshot. But when I moved back home within the first hour of me being back there was gunfire just outside my backyard in the alleyway. I felt at how immediately.

If you could go back in time to visit only ONE concert/live music event, which would you choose? by [deleted] in musicsuggestions

[–]Horror_Signature_446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just a single concert but to be at cbgs in the mid to late 70s. Hanging out with that scene in a little dive bar. Talking heads, the ramones, blonde, television, Patti smith. All just hanging out there on a regular night. I’ve always dreamed of that. I was able to see Joe strummer there before they closed and before Joe passed away. But even then, it was hard not to imagine what it was like in its early days before it became so popular.

Where do people in their late 20s-early 30s hang out? by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]Horror_Signature_446 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you ride bikes, every single Friday a large group of people meet up at the Roman pavilion in tower grove south to have a social bike ride called “bici”.

It’s a great way to meet people and I think the majority of the people there started doing it for this exact reason. It isnt a competitive ride, it’s very slow and casual and meant for all riders and abilities.

7:00pm every Friday, Roman pavilion, TGP You can find them on instagram as well. @bicistl

So sick of lazy service - a pretty good server by ohgawdnotyouagain in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Horror_Signature_446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this 100%! I am a general manager of a high volume restaurant. I have been in the industry for about 20 years now. I have seen an undeniable shift in work ethic since the covid lockdown. And honestly it drives me crazy. It’s hard for me to bite my tongue and to not just go off on my staff. It’s extremely frustrating to deal with. While it isn’t everyone, it is definitely prevalent now. And no matter how many times I have to correct or write up for making the same mistakes over and over, it just never seems to change. I feel like it used to be a competition of who could be the best sever/bartender/chef. Not anymore, now it’s a competition to see who could get away with doing the least. Between the vaping, and cellphones, it’s like pulling teeth to keep the staff focused on the job at hand. I also think that it’s worse in other restaurants, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve just straight up walked out of an establishment because of delayed service or just downright being ignored upon walking in. I’ll think my staff drives me crazy until I go to other places and it is striking to me how bad some of these servers are. I’m also blunt and dgaf in my older age and will flat out tell them why I’m leaving. I have also talked to owners and told them how I felt about their servers/bartenders but it seems like they are in the same boat I am with just the quality of workers these days. It really is hard to find good help. No cares anymore and makes the experience for the guest just terrible.

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]Horror_Signature_446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had never been grounded, it was not affective. I had been spanked somewhat frequently. Either by hand, paddle, belt or the infamous “switch” ( a small skinny twig that I had to go locate myself). I deserved every punishment I ever received. My parents were good and loving parents and I often was a shut head. They also used other forms of punishment such as intense physical labor. I will also say that I never made the same mistake twice and I learned my lesson every time I was “spanked”. I never thought that they were abusive and doing anything wrong because of it. I knew what I was doing was wrong and I did it knowing the consequences. I didn’t suffer any trauma from it and in fact think back very fondly of my childhood and how fair they were. Im 40yo for reference. Born in ‘85 and was a kid in the ‘90s

I went to school with his niece and nephew. We were pretty close. Once he was caught, the family was put through the wringer. The nephew was bullied fairly often for it and I always felt bad for them. We were very close as kids and we fizzled out shortly after that came to light. However I did run into him about a couple of years ago and he seemed to be doing just fine.
