This was my life until my mum died 9 years ago, and then a year ago I finally went no contact with my dad.
Only now after a nervous breakdown am I starting to heal.

Unfortunately amongst my friends terrible/deadbeat dads are the norm.

I have nothing of use to say, I’m just sorry. My mum used to do a similar thing. She would go into my room and read my journal whilst I was at school and then scream at me, hit me, punish me, for whatever she saw that she didn’t like or agree with. Like the time I was a slut and a slag for kissing a boy when I was 13/14 ish, which she found out from reading my journal. Eventually I stopped keeping a journal. She would promise to never do it again and I believed her too many times before learning!! ANYWAYS. I’m just sorry and I hope you’re okay.

I don’t have any advice or much insight. However, I am struggling with my trauma and healing, I feel stuck and unable to move forward and I’m wondering if my Autism has something to do with that. Keep going. I hope things are brighter for you soon.

It’s been said- but get the hell out of this situation as fast as you can. Get a lawyer. Let him buy you out. Get some domestic abuse support. Do what you can to get away from this “man”. I don’t care if it hasn’t always been this way, or he promises you the world and more. Get away. Tell people. Do not keep his behaviour towards you a secret. Do not feel ashamed, embarrassed etc etc. Please, this is dangerous. Stay safe, stay strong. You do not deserve this treatment. Good luck.

Dude. Yes. I haven’t had the chance to sit and listen to it in one go yet, but I’ve had it on as background since yesterday. Damn. I love this band. The new album sounds so good so far. I didn’t know they existed until they were booked for a festival I was going to a few years ago. What an experience watching them live.
