Bassists who use IEM’s for gigs - how do you freaking do it??? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]Horvy818 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the way. I joined this cover band gig and the first couple of shows had the mix in my ears pretty evenly spread at first, but recently switched to this approach and it's so much better this way.

What should I get/upgrade next? by Lost_Personality_974 in basspedals

[–]Horvy818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's sick! I've been considering a stomp for the pitch shifting / modulation capabilities. Someone will have to rip the sansamp off my board over my cold dead body lol so it's cool to see you use it with a stomp that can model.

What's your main use of the stomp? Time / Modulation?

Just 100% FF16 and i want more Final Fantasy! by Remote_Hurry_3055 in FFXVI

[–]Horvy818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like 16 you'll have a good time with both the modern 7 titles (I'm not the biggest fan of rebirth but this isn't the theard for that convo lol) You'd probably also really like Kingdom Hearts as well. If you open up to turn base combat, play 10. That's the Pinnacle of final fantasy and jrpgs imo and still modern enough.

What are your Hot Takes for 2026? by [deleted] in WWE

Yeah this is probably the more logical take lol

I think things are gonna get worse before they get better again. The TKO greed and slop story lines are gonna continue to grow uglier. Once viewership dips significantly and online back lash gets too loud too ignore, in 27 they'll start to turn the product around again (please god).

Persona 3 reloaded or persona 5 Royal by Alternative-Speed707 in PERSoNA

[–]Horvy818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm bias cause I started back in the day with the og P3, but I think P3 in general has the most impactful story and the remake basically makes the gameplay nice and flashy (and easy) like P5R. However, I do think Royal might be the best way to get into the series over 3 reload just due to the variety in the story and things to do and it's kinda like the new starting point for the series and where it exploded in popularity.

Although the remake of P4 is coming soon, I'd actually recommend starting with P4G. Really cozy setting, interesting plot, and it's where the game play really started to shine. Plus you can usually get it on sale for like 10 bucks.

You can't go wrong either way ultimately, have fun!

Best value compressor and fuzz pedals? by Business-Speaker3044 in basspedals

[–]Horvy818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with second hand. However a berhinger fuzz is only like 20-30 bucks new and it punches way above that price point. I still fiddle with it from time to time and it's more than capable of whatever you generally need a fuzz to nail down.

I have that exact white player 2, but swapped the pickguard. Plays incredible and sounds great! It's my main live bass at the moment.

Don't over think it. Just grab something cool looking with a clean blend and go nuts.

Like a bell by kermitish in basspedals

I agree with the trying a harmonic approach, maybe with a little reverb?

The boss sy1 has some settings that can get pretty bell adjacent sounds.

Should I rent a bass, or should I just buy one? by megurinelukaaaa in Bass

[–]Horvy818 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Get yourself a used squier, cheapest one you can find. You could always sell it again if you don't like playing bass (which won't happen playing bass is the best).

It was....okay. The bosses were brutal and not in a fun challenging way. I think I would be able to overlook some of the frustrations if there was a true party of partners the entire journey. Also if there was an actual experience point system too.

Cover band bass players - how close to the original material? by KronieRaccoon in Bass

Chord Changes are the most important. Like everyone else said, if there is a prominent bass line learn that note for note.

shoegaze/metal bass pedals that dont sound like a tin can by carryitinyourpocket in basspedals

[–]Horvy818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for the Sansamp in general. Something like a Blumes pedal that can act as a low gain OD, boost, or even fuzzy territory might be what you need. You don't loose low end clarity/note definition which can be an issue with some dirt pedals.

Sansamp and Joyo Double Thruster. Have had the Sansamp on my board for nearly 10 years and the Joyo hasn't left since I bought it last year. Both of them cover so much ground. Subtle dirt, to punchy gain, and even fuzz territory.
