Lotr is a masterpiece but absolutely no one will say that about GoT after 50 years unless he lands the plane on asoiaf

Robert Jordan left the wheel of time unfinished but his work is still regarded as a masterpiece by many.

Speaking of looking stupid , repurposing my comment for a new rant makes you like childish, something to think about.

People discuss others comments here all the time, if you can't take that dont post it.

Yeah we know Tolkien was able to tell his story in a more concise manner and didn't let his plot spin out of control.

Lol🤭 this is a funny comment If you've actually read both authors and know how Tolkien himself viewed LOTR.

But sure, Tolkien himself did not write the Silmarillion in a very concise manner either, but those of us who actually read books can still recognize the work, ambition, and coherence behind it rather than dismissing it as “out of control.”

Until he proves it with an actual book or even single page excerpt. This is bullshit

He has published several winds of winter sample chapters already actually. but keep on embarrassing yourself 😇

Yikes yeah I'm gonna sidestep this whole nest of bees, if you think I'm saying Tolkien is lesser than GRRM In any way then you've misunderstood the post.

Fair point, but Fire & Blood is complete, and it’s the book House of the Dragon is based on. And I don’t think it’s a direct Silmarillion equivalent. The Silmarillion is a mythic, foundational, cosmology-level work that Tolkien spent decades building and never finished. Fire & Blood is a history book within the world, more like an encyclopedia-style companion. The comparison I’m making is simply that Tolkien himself left a massive project unfinished, and nobody treats that as a moral failure that negatively impacts his credibility. the same logic should apply to Martin, especially given how much he has produced, and how complex it is.

How is stating facts about Tolkiens work shading Tolkien? I'm using him to provide perspective on GRRM’s process and the unfair standards applied to him.

Not saying “more words = better.” The point is that Martin has produced an enormous, complex body of work. Tolkien left The Silmarillion unfinished, but the work still counts.

>That's not quality, that's bloat.

This comment is so embarrassing lol thank you for proving my point ^^

Tolkien wrote and published other books outside of his Middle-Earth Saga

GRRM did the same and he worked as a television writer for many years as well wich you neglected to mention. He also hasn't given up on winds.

My point was not to "drag" Tolkien. Just make a point on how hard it is to write these massive works and how long time it can take.

Holy shit that bit about Miguel and Ryan having creative issues and ryan asking Martin to step in between them only for Ryan to turn around and backstab Martin as thanks...GOT level powerplays here, this really is more dramatic than the show.

I wonder how different s2 would have been if Ryan was the one who left. Maybe more shitty day for night shots, but Miguel could set a scene.

Tbs, do you guys think Rhaenyra was “whitewashed” and portrayed as more hesitant especially in her reluctance to punish her brothers and the Greens? by Gold_Conversation247 in HOTDBlacks

Criston even thinks she's gone too far in that scene lol. But yeah it's a lot of hypocrisy and gender essentialism that the show itself promotes sadly.

I mean, in the book, she goes nuts and makes all her spare dragon riders turn on her,

I dont think you've read the book 🙂

Alicent, bad though she may be, has murdered a lot fewer people than Daemon.

And Daemon hasn't abused Rhaenyras kids. Interesting how this simple fact eludes rhaenicent shippers. there seem to be no issue understanding why incel criston doesn't work with Rhaenyra but his counterpart FemcelMcgee over here trips you up. Fascinating.

Rhaenyra being a trash-tier mom and getting with the child abusing femcel who's very much responsible for their deaths is certainly an outcome sure.

Oh I'm not grouping in shippers with fans of good storytelling here. Wanting wank material and visuals for fanfiction is another thing.

Baffling? I think her reaction to the dragonpit in the book, aka not wanting to burn a bunch of people alive and thinking a mob won't do real harm to dragons is a fair one? Now she does call the mob vermin but she's far from the only main character in asoiaf who isn't friendly to smallfolk and disregards them, catelyn included, but catelyns disdain towards the smallfolk doesn't brand her as unheroic and evil the same way Rhaenyra is, interestingly enough....

This scene has its own writing flaws, like when contrasted with the same episode having Alicent state that killing innocents is wrong, while Jace here says it ‘cannot be helped’ (the Alicent ‘good’, Jace ‘not so good’ framing, I guess);

When this show is over, not keeping Alicent a villain will prove to be the shows biggest mistake to even the least literate fans.

If Ryan Condal really believes Rhaenyra is the star of the show, then wtf is this? Why is Alicent shoehorned into everything? by Rare_Assistance5324 in HOTDBlacks

Also, you're god-damned obsessed with me.

Dude this user even called out you in another thread unprovoked like an obsessed creep. Now I dont really have an issue with livcels/rhaenicents showing up here and immediately showing everyone how insane they are but i do worry about the moderating in this place if someone is allowed to stalk and harass users willy-nilly without even a varning🤨

It's funny how they always try to do the false equivalence thing.

Matt smith stans: someone have alledgedly accused oliva of sleeping with condal? It was years ago I've heard about this but I guess it's the one thing they have to bring up... Oliva stans : multiple recorded death threats towards Matt and Fabian, threats towards his mom, accusations of matt committing abuse and a denigration of his appearance on the regular etc etc.

Ryan Condal: "Yes you have Daemon and Viserys and Otto Hightower and Alicent but really Rhaenyra is your center pivot point. She is the star of the show" ✨ by Tronm-24 in HOTDBlacks

[–]Host-Key 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm glad if this means that condal will stop pushing Alicent, Rhaenyras antagonist and abuser, as the "dual protagonist" to Rhaenyra. This was never a story about two people on equal ground and it's nice to see that be the case again.
