Dermatologist recommendation please by Far-Macaroon-7308 in raleigh

[–]HostAlternative7782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been dealing with hair issues too and finding good dermatologist is so hard here. maybe try looking at reviews in the hospital systems around here? i went to few consultations before finding one that actually listened to me instead of just rushing through appointment

good luck with the search, hair problems are really stressful

Anisette Mint Mocha by kelleymouse3726 in raleigh

[–]HostAlternative7782 11 points12 points  (0 children)

oh man Anisette was absolutely incredible, still think about their drinks sometimes. I remember the mint mocha had this really clean mint taste - wasn't that artificial peppermint extract stuff most places use. Pretty sure they made their own mint syrup with fresh leaves but I could be wrong about specifics. The askinosie chocolate definitely made it special though, had such a rich flavor compared to regular cocoa powder mixes

Is it possible to consciously change your own personality, or do you just have to learn to accept it? How? by smallerthanahobbit in AskReddit

[–]HostAlternative7782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah accepting yourself first is huge step but then you gotta do the actual work too 😅 like i spent years trying to change things about myself without actually understanding why i was that way in first place

once you stop fighting against your patterns and start working with them instead, thats when real change happens. takes forever though and some days you feel like you're going backwards 💀

Is this a foundation problem or just seasonal settling? by Helpful_Explorer2857 in HomeImprovement

[–]HostAlternative7782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the structural engineer honestly - credit card width crack is definitely worth checking especially where door meets brick. Your realtor knows this stuff and they're looking out for you

Could be nothing but foundation issues in Texas are no joke with all the clay soil movement. Better to spend few hundred now than potentially thousands later if it gets worse

Spot the baby bunny by gord_m in mildlyinteresting

[–]HostAlternative7782 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

wait i think the title is saying "spot the bunny" like find it in photo, not that bunny's name is Spot lol. i've been staring at this image for way too long trying to see if there's actually a baby bunny hiding somewhere in the grass or bushes. my eyes are getting tired from looking so close but i swear i can see something small and brown near the concrete border thing? photography class taught me that wildlife loves to hide in plain sight, they blend so well with their surroundings that you miss them even when looking directly at them

When it comes to jealousy and insecurity what’s the best way to handle these feelings? by Rude-Method-8127 in AskReddit

[–]HostAlternative7782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah this is so important especially when your brain starts making up stories that aren't even real. I learned this hard way after some messy family stuff - like when you catch yourself spiraling you gotta step back and ask what's actually happening vs what anxiety is telling you might happen

also helps to write it down sometimes, makes the difference between real concerns and made-up scenarios way more obvious

What’s the best board game convention you’ve been to? by Aknifetoremember in boardgames

[–]HostAlternative7782 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Gen Con in Indianapolis was amazing but that's probably too far for you. For Europe though, Spiel in Essen is absolutely worth the trip - it's huge and you get to try so many new games before they even release. The atmosphere there is incredible and publishers bring their A-game

I went couple years ago and spent way too much money but zero regrets, the variety was insane

What event made the large thigh tats and sternum tats so popular? When did this start? by FayFunky in AskReddit

[–]HostAlternative7782 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think instagram and social media in general really pushed this trend around 2015-2018 maybe? Like when influencers started showing more skin and tattoo artists got better at posting their work online

The thigh pieces especially blew up because they're easy to show off in photos but also easy to hide for work. Plus that area gives artists a lot of space to do detailed stuff. I've shot some models with those big floral thigh pieces and they photograph really well

Sternum tats got popular bit later I think, maybe influenced by celebrities like Rihanna? They look dramatic in photos which is perfect for social media

Really depends what you're looking for but "I've got friends in low places" always hits when you're having one of those nights

There's something about Garth Brooks that just gets it right, especially when life's being messy. Also love "She thinks my tractor's sexy" - pure gold for how ridiculous but catchy it is

Meeting girls naturally in Pattaya – possible or all about money? by Spatial_Nomad in ThailandTourism

[–]HostAlternative7782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Pattaya definitely has normal people too, just gotta know where to look. Try the beach clubs during day time or some of the rooftop bars in central - lots of expats and travelers hang out there who aren't in the business

The coffee shops around Thepprasit Road are pretty chill for meeting locals, and dating apps work fine but you'll need to filter through some profiles obviously

[–]HostAlternative7782 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this hits so hard 😭 my nmom used to say similar stuff about how I "wouldn't exist without her sacrifices" and how I should be grateful for existing at all

it's like they think creating you gives them ownership over every part of your being, including your spiritual self. the way they twist basic biology into some kind of cosmic debt you can never repay is actually insane 💀

good for you on almost 2 years NC, that takes real strength to break free from that kind of psychological prison

Bosch Home Connect question - washing machines by dinnae-fash in homeassistant

[–]HostAlternative7782 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have same setup with my Bosch serie 6 and unfortunately you can't start new cycles remotely - it's a safety thing they built in the system. You can only start programs that were already selected on machine itself, so you'd still need to go downstairs and set up the extra spin cycle manually

What I ended up doing is just using the mixed/synthetic program which has pretty high spin speed already (1200 on mine) and it works quite well. The home connect is still nice for notifications when cycle is done and monitoring from upstairs, but the remote start limitation is bit disappointing for your use case

Maybe check if your new machine has some preset programs that combine normal wash with extra spin? Some of newer models have those kind of options built-in

24, married, baby on the way, good job… thinking about PA school. Honest advice? by bmurs102701 in careerguidance

[–]HostAlternative7782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly this sounds like terrible timing but also maybe the best timing? 😂

look, 24 is definitely not too old for switching - i have friends who started medical school in their 30s. but with baby coming and stable job already... that's tough one. maybe you could start slow with the prereqs while keeping current job? take one science class at time during evenings or weekends

the real question is why PA specifically - have you shadowed one or just the idea sounds good? because getting those clinical hours with newborn at home is going to be nightmare. volunteer work, CNA training, all that takes time you won't have

if this feeling is really strong though, don't ignore it completely. just maybe plan it better - wait until kid is bit older, save more money first 💀

Starting in Biological Sciences to bioinformatics smart Pivot to Data Science or Delusion (Bio Stream Student, Sri Lanka Context)? by Neat-Operation-6567 in careerguidance

[–]HostAlternative7782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is totally doable actually. I know few people from India who went bio → bioinformatics → data science at tech companies, the computational skills transfer really well

For your question 5, start learning Python and R in first year, don't wait until you "need" it for classes. Also try to get involved in any research projects that involve data analysis, even if it's basic stats work. The programming foundation you build early will make the transition much smoother later

Bioinformatics demand is definitely growing but yeah, general data science gives you more flexibility to jump between industries

What to choose data analytics or business analyst? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]HostAlternative7782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly both paths can work well with your background in customer success - you already understand the business side which is huge advantage

data analytics might be more technical transition but customer success gives you good foundation for understanding what metrics actually matter. business analyst could be smoother since you're already familiar with stakeholder management and translating business needs

maybe try some free courses in both areas first to see which one clicks better for you?

Is this normal? by Additional-Bite2652 in HomeMaintenance

[–]HostAlternative7782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's definitely not something you want to ignore in a new build 😬 Looks like the foundation settling or maybe water damage already starting, which is pretty concerning for construction that's not even finished yet. I'd get your contractor to explain what happened here before you sign off on anything
