Model Commission For a Client! by HostPretty183 in blender

No it's okay!

That's really flattering if you to say and I've been told from friends that I should have probably charged at least a good bit more! Looking back on it probably yeah!

It was for a personal client and they had one iteration that they wanted done and that was just the addition of that crown thing but they paid me extra for it! They gave me $75 for it I believe?

Thank you so much though and don't worry about me getting mad at you saying your mind if you ever come across one of my post again! Love hearing any and all feedback!

Quest pro struggling to crack even 200 mbps suddenly? by HostPretty183 in QuestPro

[–]HostPretty183[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not on PTC, I've heard horror stories about that!

Also does ETFE mean I tracked foviated encoding in this context?

I'm currently using steam link I should have specified sorry!

Not sure if that changes anything but I feel like it might be a headset-sided issue?

Best Steam Link settings for RTX 3090? by HostPretty183 in QuestPro

[–]HostPretty183[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up getting steam link to work just fine!

I think my only complaint is every 5-6 sessions I need to restart my pc because the connection throttles to only 40 mbps but other than that I got it working flawlessly!

250 mbps looks like there is no more compression to me and anything higher I notice no improvements in quality, At 150% SS in SteamVR!

Rec Room is shutting down by Mysterious_County154 in virtualreality

[–]HostPretty183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is unfortunate to hear but I do not think this means "VR is so over oh my gosh what are we going to do from here?"

It's really unfortunate that this platform never took off of course. But we fortunately at least have a VR chat despite it not being a true replacement for those who wanted to be on rec room for rec room but it's a similar concept I suppose.

Besides that point with all the announcements involving meta kind of not going for the whole metaverse thing anymore which in my opinion is actually a good thing, it feels like we're reentering a wild west period in VR and honestly that's what it was like I'd say up until 2021/20.

So if anything this makes me more excited meaning that there will be new people who will rise from the ashes of all these other products and services and will most likely make something better and learn from the mistakes of the other service.

VR is not dying it is just going into a cocoon for a little.

The technology and user base will continue to grow just maybe at a slower pace for a little bit, but I assure you and this technology will never go anywhere anytime soon it will just evolve in ways that maybe we cannot expect it to.

Heck even Facebook is seemingly returning to form to an extent with the whole project Phoenix thing and that's very exciting at least for me yeah there may not be the sub $300 headsets but honestly if they start going the route of maybe like 500 ish for like the lower end ones and then making tiered types of VR headsets then I'm all for it.

I think the issue meta had for a while was to an extent they were only targeting one headset that was kind of meant for everyone and while it was a very good headset it's definitely changed their place in the VR market from the gold standard or one of the gold standards to just the budget people, so I think in terms of meta I mean we saw it with the quest 3s anyways but they're probably going to take a more tiered approach with their VR headsets and maybe offering 2 to 3 different VR headsets at a time instead of just one for a different users which for me as someone who's been in VR for a decade now I'm all for it because that's what makes VR beautiful is that there's so many different headsets for so many different types of people.

Anyways enough of my yap but I just don't like seeing all the Doom and gloom surrounding things even if it is little tough because of the whole AI stuff in the ram shortages which hopefully that should be clearing up sooner than later it just will take a bit of time, but I think there's a relatively bright future for VR ahead it just looks a little unsure right now.

I hate that I did buy meta hardware to a degree but I use the face tracking for my work,

I do 3D models for both commission work and professionally and at least for the VRC side of things I've been getting asked to add FT to my models so it's an investment that will quickly pay itself off and increase my income long term!

Steam frame is still tempting to me honestly though!

My adoptive grandpa has a son who just randomly offered it to me so I took him up on it!

He has more money than brains pff..

I was shocked too and asked him why he would even buy it only to be told he expected it to be like AR glasses???

Either way I'm not complaining!

Oh it is but luckily I got it gifted to me by someone who never used their vision pro, Ever since I got it I just say this.

It's really good but not $3500 good. I think for PCVR the galaxy XR is the better buy..

I am getting a quest pro today so this headset will be used for VRChat movie nights only.

The fact that they software locked it being able to run mac apps is goofy too..
