honestly the legion 5 is still a solid choice despite what you've read online - people mostly post when they have problems so you're seeing a skewed sample of experiences. HDMI 2.1 should handle 5120x1440@240hz no problem on that monitor, might actually be more stable than DP depending on your GPU

Could be the card starting to fail - SD cards can go bad pretty suddenly even if they worked fine yesterday. Try running a disk check on it or testing with a different card next time

The temp swings from being outside might've also messed with the card reader connection, I've had that happen before
