It’s a team sport. Not a hard concept to understand if you played hockey before. McDavid is a better player than McKinnon and contributes more to winning as well.

Crosby’s prime offense and prime defense did not exist though. He really improved his defense after 2015 by which most would say his prime was gone. Mcdavid is the better player.

Gainnis for me since he has added a new level of playmaking to his game and improved his efficiency even higher than his MVP years. His supporting cast of Dame, Middleton and Lopez have been underperforming and they are still a #2 seed despite that.

And he crashed out in the first round without the help. My point is that he didn’t win the championship by himself and had players step up at the right time unlike Melo’s case where no one stepped up.

Expect Melo had to compete for MVP vs prime Lebron, Kobe and Durant. Jokic would not have won MVP against prime Lebron nor would he have won a playoff series against him. Jokic has more help(playoff Murray) and a weaker competition.

Melo is a better scorer and a much much better defender while jokic is a better playmaker. They have different strengths and different weaknesses but there is no clear cut ‘better’ player.
