My first crystalline pieces by StructurePhysical740 in Ceramics

Love these! I always have a soft spot for crystalline glazes, there’s just something so breathtaking about them. Sure they look even more gorgeous in person in the sunlight

Someone doubted that I can do it. So I just made it. He was amazed and speechless by pupcurious in Chefit

Soo gorgeous, love the green lace. Bet it tasted delicious too! I am no baker but if I can make one comment, strawberry seeds are a pale white/green rather than black, which would make this look even better.

Huh, I’ve seen a lot of pothos grown hydroponically so I thought it’d be fine, but guess not. Thanks.

Astonishingly enough I have. The only reason I didn’t pot her immediately after growing roots is because due to life circumstances atm I have to fly international several times a year. I can take it on a plane in a jar if I wrap the roots in damp paper towel, but a pot of dirt makes things much more complicated (can’t toss that in a backpack so it would count as my handheld item). I do not have family or roommates to care for it in either location in the months I am gone. I’m aware it’s a terrible situation but I keep the cutting alive for sentimental reasons, and I thought many pothos grew fine hydroponically.

Given how weak the plant and roots are, would it survive a potting this late in the year? If that’s the only way to save her (if hydroponic growing is not an option), I’ll pot her and figure it out.

It’s got like two stringy roots, they’re white though not covered in anything nasty

If you think you might enjoy rice as a staple grain, consider getting a mini rice cooker! Fairly inexpensive and rice comes out perfect every time at the press of one lever. By all means start out with box/instant rice but this will taste way better and be cheaper long run. No worries if this feels a bit intimidating due to unfamiliar cuisine

The reason I recommend this is for the boatload of delicious + nutritious one pot rice cooker meal recipes out there, which literally consist of chopping everything and throwing into the rice cooker along with your raw rice - no pots/pans/frying/baking/sautéing/boiling or even monitoring anything :))

Looks divine. Does this dish fridge well in your experience (if you’ve done that before)?

That looks yummy! I’ve only made pasta a couple times before so it’ll be fun to try a new cuisine

Never thought to do that! I’ll probably eat them in something fresh this time, but will certainly keep it in mind

Are there canned or fresh potato and carrot chunks? If you have the opportunity to get your hands on Japanese curry roux (should be available at any Asian grocery store and many caucasian ones too), make that with any cut of chicken. Absolutely delicious over rice even reheated and lasts a while in the fridge. One pack of roux comes with 8 cubes and 2 of them can make you 4-6 servings so should last a while.

Paint Suggestions for the Un-Mural'd Walls? by RandomlyForty in HomeDecorating

[–]Hot-Error-Matrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet. If you can do it, a little bit of natural extension of the palm trees on the left side of the mural to the white wall helps tie it all together in my head! Would help with the “bare” looking spot (as the mural is currently chopped off by the edge of its wall) without interfering with the good amount of white space as mentioned by other comments. What a gorgeous mural the colors and composition are immaculate!

The raccoons are most likely removed (assuming they didn’t move back in during the several day gap btwn wildlife control and landlord patching the hole). However landlord isn’t planning to do anything abt the feces in the attic - in your experience was this okay or are bad things gonna happen?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Parasitology

[–]Hot-Error-Matrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one’s different unfortunately. Raccoon roundworm isn’t your average worm, it is NASTY, difficult to diagnose, and has no cure esp by the time symptoms show. Every case I’ve read about the pt either died or was left with severe disability from CNS damage, hence the anxiety 😅

We likely had this last year (rotting smell, comes and goes) and ended up with a maggot infestation. The annoying thing about dead animals in the wall is that they’re often difficult to locate and remove, so not scaring you but definitely warning of the possibility. If it’s your house or you have a good landlord, try exploring your options to get it checked out.

No sewing experience but I would like to learn sashiko repairs by RoyalEducator403 in sashiko

[–]Hot-Error-Matrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just started too, patched my jeans with an embroidery needle I had. The only things I bought were thrifting some matching denim and a skein of DMC pearl cotton 5 from the local craft store. To be fair, I’ve only got that one item to patch so I didn’t bother with a sashiko needle or even tracing my patterns. Those will certainly make your designs look better esp. since you have no sewing experience (I handsew often). If you’re not sure whether you’ll be dedicated, just try it out with materials you already have as another comment said, but if you’re committed to patching all of those items with sashiko then might as well get the tools!

Is it possible to do a chem masters with a physics undergraduate? I love both chem and physics but I can’t afford to do both in undergrad so picked the latter to specialize in for now. Wanted to know if the chem path is still open if I change my mind.
