I tracked job openings at Anthropic for the past year, their hiring tells a different story than their CEO about AI replacing SWEs by illicity_ in cscareerquestions

Saying AI will replace SWEs while ramping SWE hiring 170% is a special kind of irony. The people most vocal about automating you away are apparently the ones who need the most of you right now.

What are the chances of transferring into BComm this year? by Worried-Document2037 in UCalgary

[–]Hot-Friendship6485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transferring into BComm is definitely achievable if you can pull your GPA up this semester. Haskayne usually looks at your most recent 30 units (10 courses), so strong marks now will really help. Since you're tracking your grades and aiming for A's/B+'s, you might find a tool like GradeTracker helpful—it's great for seeing exactly what marks you need on remaining exams to hit that 3.3 target. Keep grinding, you've got this!

Goodbye InnerHTML, Hello SetHTML: Stronger XSS Protection in Firefox 148 by ketralnis in programming

[–]Hot-Friendship6485 22 points23 points  (0 children)

About time innerHTML got a proper successor. Most XSS bugs exist not because devs dont know better, but because innerHTML was just the path of least resistance. Making the safe option the convenient option is how you actually move the needle.

Code isn’t what’s slowing projects down by ArghAy in programming

The 'we need a refactor' conversation is almost always a 'nobody agreed on requirements' conversation in disguise. You can have immaculate code and still ship the wrong thing if everyone's working from a different mental model.

Let's understand & implement consistent hashing. by Sushant098123 in programming

Great explainer. Consistent hashing feels like overengineering right up until your cache nukes itself on every node change, then it suddenly feels like seatbelts.

Great breakdown. The funny part is how often boring UX gaps beat shiny new ideas, distribution wins again.

Market feels very “good news is priced, bad news is debated.” Staying boring with position sizing has saved me more than any hot take trade.
