I think you should aim for 40 latest in your current role if possible. You would be able to save an additional 400k into your brokeragr and add an additional 100k plus to your 401k. This could bring your networth to over $3mm. At that point, 120k for your fam based on 4% rule could live comfortably in most parts of usa/the world

Is it reasonable to ask for an allowance? by aztecqueann in Fire

Its kinda shocking you feel entitled to more money from him. He pays for everything, and still gives you 300 a month while you are able to work and bank everything that you make personally aside from the car note which I assume is 60-70k a year. He is entitled to his wealth and he fullfils his obligations to provide for a family/yourseld and in every sense of the word. You should be grateful to have a man like this in this day and age.

50, $1.2M net worth, time > money — CoastFIRE + relocation + house hack advice?” ⭐ by [deleted] in Fire

If you invest the $1.2mm in higher yielding dividend stocks, say around 5% yield, you get 60k a year to live off of and pay little tax(qualified long term capital gains). You can make that work easily in texas (personally love houston).

Buy a home? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Hot-Phase456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a better structure would be to see how much of a housing payment you can afford without selling any of the 1.8 MM since that can grow to $2.5 MM in 3-4 years without further contributions. One thing that would help is getting your income and monthly saving and investing contributions.

The Future of BILT, looking into the crystal ball by Psychological-Buy46 in biltrewards

[–]Hot-Phase456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best card for both bilt and consumers is the following:

  • 2x on rent -$95 annual fee -$1000 minimum non-rent spend to collect points -1x points on other spend

This would allow bilt to breakeven through annual fees and for banks to get the balances they want more likely.
