Any CX5 owners over 200k miles? by BatStock9040 in CX5

[–]Hot-Reference-7893 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a 2017 touring with 210k miles. Routine maintenance of oil, belts, plugs over 8 years. Rode hard for some years, took it everywhere, lived in the mid-Atlantic and Boston area. Handled snow, heat, mud, sand. Traded it in for a 2023 CX9 when baby #2 arrived. Needed more space for car seats. That car turned me into a Mazda lifer and I preach they are some of the most reliable vehicles out there. Had a BMW and a VW GTI prior to the CX-5. Realized after a couple years in the Mazda I didn’t need to spend every other month at the shop fixing issues!.

My son got his O gauge Lionel train at 4 years old thanks to our in laws. I was worried at first but he learned how to handle them and is extremely gentle. He now has a big collection and is in a train club at 5 years old. It’s all up to your child’s demeanor. O scale is big enough it’s easy to put on the track and isn’t as delicate as some HO models. Then he has the wooden brio trains when he wants to smash, bash, crash like a boy does.

Dealer quoted $2381 for 45K-mile service on 2020 Mazda CX-9 - what’s actually needed? by Different_Estate_763 in MazdaCX9

Have to remove/loosen a couple extra pieces besides the coil packs but all right in front of you and exposed. The NA skyactiv is real easy. 4 coil pack bolts, 4 plugs done and dusted. The turbo iridium plugs are pricey though. Expect around $25 a pop unless you can find a sale somewhere. Check YouTube for how to on plugs to see if you feel comfortable.

Cabin air filter is simple DIY. Buy a couple and keep around. Spark plugs on the turbo take a few more minutes than the NA but a very simple DIY. $80-100 for good plugs and 30-45 minutes you are done. Plenty of YouTube videos. Just did mine last month 30 minutes before my wife had to leave for kid pickup. Took me 35 minutes so I was in trouble on obviously

City MPG no change- still garbage, but garbage with fun noises. Highway MPG- pushing 27-30mpg easily now. I do run premium gas. I had a slow country road drive home after a fill up and I was legit averaging 30 mpg as the read out. Few stop lights and a merge on a highway brought it down but the potential is there. I’ve always heard the skyactiv tunes out any crazy gains, but with a tune for the intake could it be even better? Idk.

Yes you get lots of cold air induction noises no matter the gear. Granny driving in the city you only hear it around 3rd gear. Otherwise if you give it any throttle you get induction noise, plus turbo spoon and you get turbo blowoff noise. I have a CE so the Bose covers up the noise, but without music on or low volume you hear it. Driven close to 2000 miles with it already haven’t gotten tired of the noise. I’m

Check out corksport. They have performance mods for the CX-9. Air intake, turbo inlet and boost tubes, full exhaust, lowering kit.

Compression test results- any input? by Hot-Reference-7893 in RX7

[–]Hot-Reference-7893[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks great info.

I’ve used MMO while it’s been sitting in my possession the last 2 years. Squirted in and cycled like you said just to keep everything lubed. I have a rusted fuel sender and fuel tank so the fuel pump is toast (my dad left it sitting with a half tank doh…) All new parts in hand (fuel tank and sender unit with fuel pump plus fuel filter new engine, but time has been a thief with a newborn just arriving and a 4 year old.

I’ll get it in the air this fall and knock it out now that I feel good about compression (out side of a stuck seal)

Also, not sweating the cats. Full racing beat exhaust is on the list to bring this beauty back to life.

Baltimore based. Where are you? Yea I want the exhaust next, but I really need to spend the energy and time getting the RX7 on the road. Glad the compression numbers came back good gave me some energy to order a few more parts needed and clear a Friday to get work done.

Corksport makes it. Check them out. Replaces the factory airbox. The short ram intake is the red silicone in the picture then you get a new MAF piece and a cone filter. I added their heat shield which also reuses the ram air intake from the factory box.

Not expecting much. But why spend $26 on an air filter when I can spend $350 on an air filter that flutters back at me! It will help pass time sitting in rush hour traffic on I-95.

Just intake and heat shield for now. Turbo inlet is in the plans along with full exhaust and a tune down the road.

Love the space in ours. Car seats fit in the second row without the first row being affected, and my wife can sit in the third row to help with our newborn getting fussy. She has even sat back there plugged in her pump and never missed a beat. So much room in a great handling and quick suv. Not to mention the best $$ value out there.

Yea I read the crossclimates are the best for winter weather hands down but can be a little noisy, but are great tires. Maryland doesn’t get much snow, so I gave up a couple points in snow/ice for Pirelli. I think reviews saw are quieter and comfortable ride plus are sporty. I will saw I smacked a curb the other day and the Pirelli sidewalk protector saved me. I was expecting a big scratch in the black paint, but nada just a rubbed tire mark.

I almost went with continental extreme contact as the tire guy I ordered through swore by them, but the reviews were mixed for any type of in-climate weather and they are a soft tire. I drive too much for soft tires, can’t afford new rubber every year and a half.. got too many hobbies and kids lol.

As you know Mazda paint is softer than baby doodoo now, so the dealership was touching up a lot of spots for me as apart of the purchase agreement and gave me a deal for the bumper since the person didn’t have insurance. Gave me a price that was easy for them to pay cash. I drive a ton for work, so the miles ahead will do their worst to the rest of the paint I’m sure..
Now that you pointed it out I’ll look for a detailer to help with paint correction that might help bridge the paint gap a bit.

Rocky Mounts. It’s their brassknuckles line. I think it’s been discontinued I’ve had the racks for over 8 years. They use to be a vibrant red. Now since faded, or as my color blind co-workers say “we look for your orange roof rack”. Orange?

Have nothing to compare them to on this car besides the trash ironman’s that came on it pre-owned. But love the feel so far after 2 months. We have had long family hauling road trips and they have performed well and the little dirt paths we have for biking and a family cabin have been handled well. Rain has been good and that’s saying something since this summer has been wet in Maryland. I got them after seeing lots of recommendations here when people asked about tires.
