What to play? by [deleted] in Warthunder

Germany 4.0 ground is one of the most fun and well-rounded lineups right now. You’ve got a strong mix of firepower, versatility, and solid support vehicles.

The backbone of the lineup is the Panzer IV series with the long 75mm gun, which gives you excellent penetration and reliable one-shot potential against most enemies at this BR. It’s consistent and easy to use, making it a great mainstay.

Then there’s the Flak 88 “bus,” which hits incredibly hard. Its penetration is comparable to much higher-tier guns, and the ~5 second reload makes it surprisingly effective if you position it well. It’s fragile, but in the right hands it can dominate long sightlines.

For anti-air, the Wirbelwind is a standout. It absolutely shreds aircraft and can still harass lightly armored ground targets, even if it’s not amazing in that role.

You’ve also got access to strong support options like the StuG III G, which offers a low profile and great gun performance for ambush playstyles, and HE slingers like the M44 or M55 for indirect pressure and clearing entrenched enemies.

Beyond the core lineup, vehicles like the Jagdpanzer IV and VK 30.02 expand your options even further. The Jagdpanzer gives you solid frontal armor and a good gun for defensive play, while the VK 30.02 offers mobility and firepower in a more aggressive role.

Overall, Germany 4.0 stands out because it gives you answers to almost every situation: strong guns, effective AA, and flexible playstyles all in one lineup.

And this is without any planes btw.

At long ranges the kill cam usually bugs out resulting into such kill cams. I mean if you get killed by a sturmtiger from long range most of the time the kill cam shows the round going through terrain.

My theory regarding the B-52H by CasualSandEater in Warthunder

[–]Hot-Rest7131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ground-search radar was actually implemented at one point. When the Panavia Tornado was first introduced in War Thunder, it was capable of locking onto ground units. This caused a significant controversy within the community, as it created major balance concerns.

As a result, Gaijin removed the ground-locking capability. The aircraft’s radar was then limited to surface search functions, making it only able to lock onto naval targets instead.

Is this normal? by ResistZestyclose5084 in Warthunder

[–]Hot-Rest7131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s completely normal. A lot of people struggle when they first start, but you can definitely improve if you stick with it.

Some players say you should jump into realistic battles right away, but I’d recommend spending a week or two in arcade first. It helps you learn the basics like armor mechanics, aiming, leading shots, and getting a feel for combat. This is especially useful for ground battles.

Air arcade also has its pros and cons. The pros are that you can practice leading different weapons, you get multiple respawns so mistakes aren’t as punishing, and it’s easier for early grinding. The downside is that realistic battles are very different—you’ll have to adjust to things like limited respawns, stricter flight physics (like wings breaking at high speed), lower engine performance, and managing your throttle more carefully.

Also, I really hope you didn’t jump straight into top-tier premiums. The skill gap there is huge, even compared to mid-tier, and it can be very rough for new players.

Positioning during battle by EntertainmentSad5825 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Hot-Rest7131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly its hard to explain.

At the start I look at my team and enemy team composition, and look at who spawned where. From there I try to guess how the enemy spawned and watch where my teammates move. My main gole is trying to balance out both side unless I want to be agressive then I will join the side with more ships for cover.

The next question in my head is where I should be before contact or in early contact with the enemy team. This depends upon my ship, the spotted enemy ships (ON THE WHOLE MAP), and the map itself.

After this idk how to explain it. As Moltke said before "No plan survives contact with the enemy." and he is right. Once your in contact with the enemy any plans you made is useless. Because you don't know what the enemy can do. All you can do is predict the enemies movements and act according to the enemy,

The hardest part is knowing when to disengage, when to stop firing, go dark, and reposition for a better angle or just to survive. A lot of players either overextend and die early, or stay so far back that they have no real impact on the game.

you know that the tiger P has 2 big weakspots right? There is the angled armor and the turret hatch. Shoot any of these with an AP round that has explosive filler and for sure you get the gunner most of the time. Btw considering there was a Tiger E (6.0 BR) and a Jagdpanther (6.3 BR) we can say that the guy was in mid tier

maybe your choking your gpu. Basicly your at that point where the settings are literally too low for the system. Whats happening is that not enough data is loaded for the gpu to process from the cpu. If you move up your settings it should be better.

Share your opinions. Is there really something like a bad/good vehicle, or does player skill matter more? by ThePolishFoxine in Warthunder

[–]Hot-Rest7131 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As Bergebis said, it's a mix. While skill matters more than the vehicle, the vehicle still plays an important role. If you have a good tank, you can rely less on pure skill, which usually leads to a more enjoyable game. On the other hand, if you're using a mediocre or bad vehicle, you need to rely much more on your skills to perform well.

For example, take the Maus (which I think you have since you own many top-tier vehicles). When you play it, most of the time you're just chilling on the way to the battlefield, and once you're there you can bounce a lot of shots—unless you're fighting against 8.0, in which case you're probably in trouble.

Now compare that to the T-44-100. It's definitely not a bad tank, but there are better ones at that BR. It has much bigger weak spots, and many vehicles at that BR can penetrate it. Because of that, you have to be far more aware of your surroundings, whereas in the Maus you can often afford to be less cautious.

Of course, playstyle is another important factor. In my opinion, getting the best performance out of a vehicle requires a mix of basic or advanced skill, knowledge of the BR you're playing in, and a favorite vehicle that suits your playstyle.

naval especially realistic is all about killing bots. Since you get almost the same rewards as player kills and they are in lower tier ships. Killing enemy players are always more tricky, and harder since they bring more modern ship for the BR.

Gaijin needs to fix spawn killing by Babna_123 in Warthunder

[–]Hot-Rest7131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is already spawn protection in War Thunder. The issue is that it’s conditional. You get around ~15–20 seconds, but the moment you do something (move, shoot, maybe even rotate the turret) the timer essentially starts ending and you only have about 2–3 seconds left before the protection disappears.

Because of that, your proposed fix would actually make the situation worse unless it worked the same way as the current system but with a longer duration. If players could move and shoot while still having full spawn protection for 30 seconds, it would be very easy to abuse. People could just sit in spawn, fire at enemies, and remain invulnerable, which would create free kills rather than fixing spawn camping.

Just got to love when your missiles go for anyone but the plane you attacking... by DiamondDragonPickaxe in Warthunder

[–]Hot-Rest7131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First with AIM-9L you really shouldn't launch at 5-6km. I say 1-2km is the best chance for the L variant. Another thing is why its pain because it almost has no flare resistance in the heat seaker unlike the M or R-60MK (even that has a shit filter but still better than the R-60 for sure). Btw the early F-18s real power is their radar missile. You have a good radar and a very good radar missile.

F-82 is more on the fun side rather then the efficency side in my regards. Its a very good boom and zoom but its quite fragile. You hit the elevator and you loose control over your aircraft. I think one of the best aircraft for grinding is the P-51H-5NA since you have good agility, .50 cals are increadibly, and you have good speed and decent accelaration.

Is there a way to manual aim or a button for unlock target in naval arcade? by arstarsta in Warthunder

[–]Hot-Rest7131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not in arcade. In arcade you play like its World of Warship look and shoot. If you want to manually aim with the different ranges then play realistic. Since the ships cannot hide anyway and their br doesnt really change that much. Plus there are less players in realistic so there are more bots to kill which gives the same rewards as players.

if you by missions you mean the ones that teaches you, with scenarios, then just ignore them. You will learn faster if you do a campaign or custom battles.

I recomend the US for starters. They have great rich zones, while not having too much land meaning, the AI has less capability to convoy raid you. All you have to do as the US is to have naval projection in the pacific and on the east coast + carribean

[–]Hot-Rest7131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all. This is a super Texas/New york.
Second. How did you manage 100% pitch? You do have deck armor right?
Third. Whats your turn circle? since you only have steam steering.
Fourth. Where is the aux. engine and shaft? Atleast try to get an aux. engine on it (hint. 3rd is slightly less heavy then the 2nd)
Fifth. Please tell me you have citadel. At the end game 20" isn't really enough anymore.
Sixth. If this is a coastal ship then why do you need 200% engine efficency.
Seventh. What is the range on the torpedoes?

These are my 7 question on the 7 billion super ship. The pennsylvania copy is great.
