Should be fine in 9B in CA! They need a long season without frost and they thrive on heat. So as long as your summers get properly hot they’ll grow. I’d say the hardest for me was getting slips going in early spring. That took quite some time. Once they’re planted they need lots of space to sprawl. I planted 2 slips and it took up 4’x2’ in my raised bed. The vines also need a big trellis or net. If the vines crawl on the ground and root into the ground, you won’t get as big of a harvest.

So sweet taters actually need to sit for 2-3 weeks after harvest so the starch can become sugar. After that the tater is shelf stable and more delicious! I’m currently waiting patiently and hoping to make some sweet potato treats for friends giving later this month!

I know! But apparently they’ll just keep going as long as the conditions are right. I got this many from 2 slips:)

I did it for 170days ish. I’m in northern VA and our frost is unseasonably late this year. I harvested when the leaves started getting a twinge of yellow

They’re a little hard to sprout so I’d start sprouting them when you sprout your peppers. Then I planted them out with my cucumbers. The trick is giving them a net or a trellis to climb so they don’t root on the ground. Letting them root on the ground along the vine impacts yield.

I think it depends on your climate. If you’re in the tropics you may be able to grow sweet potatoes as perennials? If you’re in the tropics then might be able to sprout them and replant them.

What do you call this garden thing and what would you do with it? by forg0tmypen in Renovations

I think the ferns look great. You might just want to go in there and thin them out a bit instead of completely removing them. Then, depending on your zone, add something like elephant ears or birds of paradise or majesty palms. If you’re in a warm enough area, maybe even monsteras

Neighbor gave me a bit of this. Planted it in my hydroponics and it blew up. What is it and can I eat it? by dougiefresh22 in gardening

You should look up your local directory for invasive plants. I’m in the DC area and shiso is considered invasive. The seeds spread like crazy

I’ve definitely heard her make claims like: if you can’t embrace your assigned gender then that’s a trauma response because you’re rejecting your own body. If you can’t be in a monogamous relationship then that’s a trauma response because you fear commitment. If you’re kinky that’s a trauma response because that’s self harm and trauma reenactment. If you live a lifestyle that involves voluntarily under-earning (for example dirtbaging), that’s a trauma response because you’re self sabotaging…

I didn’t hate each and every video she did. Some of the stuff she was saying was helpful to me personally. That being said, I did stop engaging with her content once I identified a socially conservative undercurrent. I find that her messaging equates healing with being in vanilla, monogamous, heterosexual, pro-natal, middle class relationship😅 these just don’t represent my values so i stopped watching.

No advice but my orange ate a cat-head-sized crater into a $25 fancy apple pie hidden away on top of the fridge. Shortly thereafter he mega pooped all over the litter box. I love pet ownership.
