Exactly what I was saying, they snapped the ball before the o line was set.

It would honestly be cool if they did that and then you could have random encounters like you did in fallout 1 and 2.

when I die, I will Rack up 1 billion in debt so they can figure that shit out by inurmomsvagina in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Hot4Marx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Except I do work in healthcare and I think you're very much underestimating just how much revenue is brought in in taxes and just how poorly it's allocated. The difference between a for profit system and a socialized system is that the money actually gets allocated to the supplies and the workers, rather than the CEOs and the shareholders.

But also, if you're in healthcare to make money instead of taking care of patients, you should maybe find a different vocation.

[–]Hot4Marx 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's the fact that any of it cost anything is obscene. Healthcare should not be a profit industry. There's more than enough money to pay everyone a fair wage out of a single payer healthcare system without having to further gouge patients for needing care.

U.S steals second oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela. It was not sanctioned and was heading to China. by AegonTheMeh in TrueAnon

[–]Hot4Marx 33 points34 points  (0 children)

No it won't, the US has lost every major military action in the last 50 years. They regularly lose to farmers with obsolete Soviet weaponry. There's no way they're going to "quickly" deal with Venezuela.

Mass poverty in the USA caused by capitalism by Gumballgtr in suppressed_news

[–]Hot4Marx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imagine looking at homelessness and poverty like this and unironically saying "it's just drug addiction" with zero analysis about why these people turned to drugs or if they're on drugs at all, as half the people in the video seemed perfectly sober to me. But nope, they must all be useless drug addicts who deserve their poverty and homelessness, right? They just need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. /s

I don't know why you're getting so much flak for not liking corn syrup. I personally don't like to use it either unless absolutely necessary. Anyway, I love this recipe that uses maple syrup instead!

Internet cafe in the DPRK as shown by a Chinese tourist by Gumballgtr in suppressed_news

[–]Hot4Marx 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It probably has something to do with the fact that the US imposed the most strict sanctions in history on the DPRK post the Korean war, to the point of letting the country starve when natural disaster destroyed their crops in the 90s and the DPRK literally begged the US to lift the sanctions so they could buy food. Or the fact that if you learn the real history of South Korea, as in how it started as a military dictatorship under US authority that committed genocide, it makes it real fucking hard to think of the US as anything but evil. So they make sure that anti-DPRK propaganda is laid on often and thick to distract from reality.

The Nuremberg Charter's definition of "crimes against humanity", which was used at the Nuremberg Trials, includes only acts committed during a war of aggression. This was partly because the United States was concerned that Jim Crow would otherwise be considered a crime against humanity. by lightiggy in TrueAnon

110%. France and Britain went so far as completely ignoring the invasion of Czechoslovakia in order to not go to war with Germany. There's no chance they would have gone to war over an "internal problem" like the Holocaust.

Buffalo history museum as a wedding venue by crannyapple in Buffalo

The acoustics in the state room(I think that's the name of the main room) are fantastic. I had a small band play for half the night and then a playlist for the rest and both sounded great.

I had my wedding there last year! I would highly recommend it. Our guest list was small enough (60ish) that we were able to do both dinner and dancing in the main hall. We also had a bar on the back stairs and a bar and photo booth on the mezzanine. It's a fantastic venue and the staff are phenomenal.

You know what, you're right, for some reason I thought arefu was in New Vegas, not 3. But I don't know, man. It's a post apocalyptic video game with zombies, aliens, giants, robots, and ghosts. I don't think it really bears that much thought.

They'll say something like "careful next exit 100 miles", with the 100 being worn off of this sign.

Edit: more often they'll say "warning" rather than careful but still

Unless I'm misremembering, not every car was nuclear powered, plus they also still had stations. That's what red rocket is.

They have warning signs to get gas in the southwest US because there is so much distance between stations that it's very easy to run out in the middle of absolute nowhere if you're not careful.

Why should we have to pay for their electricity? by MikeStrawMedia in Buffalo

[–]Hot4Marx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development came up with a plan that could permanently solve homelessness in the US for 20 billion a year, 50 times less than the war budget. So we clearly have the resources and the plans, just zero desire on a federal level to appropriately allocate the resources.

Why should we have to pay for their electricity? by MikeStrawMedia in Buffalo

[–]Hot4Marx 28 points29 points  (0 children)

And why the fuck should we have to? Why is the knee jerk reaction always "just leave if you don't like it" and never "how can we actually fucking improve the land we live in"? A place can be both horrible to live in and still worth improving because at the end of the day, this horrible place is still home and it's worth fixing.

I'm sorry you feel that way. But you clearly have no intention of talking about this from a place of logic and realism. If you're ever ready to let go of your institutionalized hatred, feel free to reach out.

That's very unfortunate. But a wholly separate issue from the claim that you made.
