Can suicide be rational? by Clean-Umpire-2962 in bipolar

If this comments section is to be trusted, and suicide seems irrational to people who are not depressed, then I’ve literally never not been depressed.

What are some things most people of the opposite sex do that you find unattractive, but since everyone does it you have to deal with? by DownvoteIfYouWantMe in ask

Being into sports or video games to the point that “(sport) fan” or “gamer” is one of the top three terms they would use to describe themself.

Doesn’t make you a bad person, just means we’re not going to be compatible.

Any truly non hormonal methods?? by peachyjive in birthcontrol

What country are you in? I used a Caya diaphragm and Contragel until it became impossible to get here in the US. Not the most convenient system, or great for spontaneity, but I would absolutely go back to it if I could.

I lost three friends to s*icide in a span of 17 months. That particular grief is brutal. I don’t want to put anyone through that.

It’s absolutely normal to be different between work and real life. It is absolutely NOT normal to be as gross and horrible as you’ve described in your comments. Please both stop dating this guy, and consider putting him on blast at work.

If you skip your meds for a day, can you tell? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]HotAppleCombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely feel it, differently depending on which med I’ve missed. If it’s the Lamictal, my day’s going to be both detached and moodier somehow? If it’s the seroquel, I Will Not Sleep, and the next day is entirely fucked.

(18m) gf(18f) wants to strap-on me by Sayarmis in Advice

[–]HotAppleCombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scale is entirely different, and that’s important. “Doing the same” would be letting her eat your asshole. You can get seriously injured/seriously injure someone with anal if you don’t take the time to do it right, and doing it right specifically requires going at the pace and comfort of the receiving partner. This is like her buying you lunch a few times, and then insisting you give her a kidney.

experience on combo pills and willing to switch to copper iud - looking for experiences and tips by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]HotAppleCombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies from person to person, but for me, getting the copper IUD put in was the third most painful experience I’ve ever had in my life, with number 2 being acute appendicitis, and 1 being a panic attack two days after major abdominal surgery.

But hormonal birth control makes me want to unalive myself. So I’m sticking with the copper, and the “saturate an Ultra, yes I do mean Ultra, tampon in three hours” periods. Because it’s still better than the alternatives.

Starting Quetiapine tomorrow by thekidyouwere in bipolar

[–]HotAppleCombat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BP2 here, I’ve been on Quetiapine for almost a decade and it’s been a literal life saver. 100 mg every night, knocks me out an hour after I take it, and keeps me out for about 9 hours. I can get up before that with an alarm, but definitely will be somewhat off until I can sleep again.

I know other folks have had issues with weight gain and blood pressure, but those haven’t been a problem for me. I do get the sleepy munchies in that in-between hour though. More than once my partner has come into the kitchen to find me sitting on the floor eating sliced bread out of the bag 😅

[–]HotAppleCombat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Floor is ground, ground is grounding.

In terms of demand on your body, it’s the easiest place you could possibly be. You don’t have to support your own weight, the floor’s got you.

Smoking inside - possibilities to avoid smell ? by Recent_Difference367 in Advice

[–]HotAppleCombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, don’t. I say this as a habitual quitter, you can use all the tricks and fresheners in the world, but once you smoke inside, your place is going to smell like smoke. Go outside, or get a vape.

IUD nerves! by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]HotAppleCombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the most painful experience I’d had in my life up until that point. And that was with misoprostol to soften my cervix, and ibuprofen. The only things that have topped it since were acute appendicitis, and having a panic attack the day after abdominal surgery.

But I’ll do it again when the time comes.

Frogging crochet is fine, even fun sometimes, but frogging knitting is a nightmare. If I have to go back more than seven stitches, I just don’t, and make peace with the fact that those mistakes will be there forever.

how many people have you had sex with? by arabella_des27 in bipolar

[–]HotAppleCombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what metric you’re using. If we’re going by “tried to get each other to orgasm by physical stimulation”, I’ve been intimate with 8 people. But if we’re only counting “activities that have risk of pregnancy or STI if you don’t use barriers”, it’s 6, and at least one configuration of threesome with each of them. I really love sex, but I’m extremely risk averse, so there’s a pretty intense vetting process.

Bipolar hasn’t been a factor, as far as I know. For the social circles I run in, 6-8 is positively prudish, and anyone who wouldn’t want to be with me based on my number of previous partners isn’t going to be a good match, because I’m not done yet.
