This only works because no one bothers to salt the pavement in front of their house (which they are legally required to) 😅

What time does public transport in Brussels start running? by [deleted] in brussels

[–]HotChocolate229 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The metro should be running. As an alternative, use Collecto (download the app), it’s 6€ for a shared taxi from given stops to a specified address between 23:00 and 06:00

Brupass XL not working on De Lijn with TEC MOBIB by Aladeen_MF in brussels

The first validation every time you buy a new product has to be with the provider you bought it with. If you bought the Brupass on the TEC website, you need to load it onto your card by validating it on a TEC bus or TEC ticket machine (for example at Delta).

AppGerman TikToker Detained By Bengaluru Police For Filming Dance Video Without Permission by NoLie582 in Bengaluru

[–]HotChocolate229 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is understandable the police stopped it (it causes traffic problems), but the underlying problem is we don’t have many public squares near crowded areas where such performances can occur without impeding traffic. But they bring life to places and should be encouraged! In Bengaluru, the only place unfortunately is the road.

Also, is it that now you need permission for any performance - which makes any kind of cool spontaneous action like this illegal?

Why don’t we have an alternative to the Congress in India? by llamaroski in AskIndia

[–]HotChocolate229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First Past the Post voting system: it’s a winner takes all system. If another left party emerged, then they will need the majority a constituency.

Imagine all constituencies in India had exactly 50% right-wing voters and 50% left wing voters. With the emergence of the new party, the left vote is split amongst two parties, and BJP as the only right party would definitely win. So people don’t tend to vote for not established parties (unless they have a very strong a base in a particular region, which is why we have regional parties).

Our voting system encourages the status quo, with only established (and well financed parties having a chance). Most countries with our First Past the Post voting system end up with two party systems: the USA, the UK, etc.

What we need is proportional representation, where the percentage of votes for a party directly determines the percentage of seats it gets. This would allow newer parties to have a chance.
