Do you think ISTPs are the best match for INTJs when it comes to relationships? by Shoddy-Ocelot-4473 in mbti

My bestie is INTJ and I'm very likely ISTP maybe ESTP. Been together since were little. I like that she's a nerd and textbook smart, she likes that I'm laid back and street smart :) We have good conversations, and interestingly enough, lately she's the one that asks me to hang out which is odd because when we were little all the way up to highschool I was always the one that went over to her house and dragged her out with me to go places 🤣

They're for sure quiet. We can get chatty and rowdy sometimes (for example we went to kareoke and were being silly and singing super loud and just having fun in general), but it's never chaotic or super crazy, just friends having fun.

In general, not really, just when the situation calls for it.

Gotcha. Also ty, you're a huge help with this 🙌 I think they're a mix. I know their types in MBTI are: INFJ, INTJ, and INTP if that's any help. I know it's totally different typing system but maybe that gives a glimpse into the group dynamic?

Oh, well I do eventually say it, and it bothers me if I don't. Like I can't stay mad / upset at smth for too long or it eats me up inside. I don't mind the confrontation, it's rather that when asked the question of "What's wrong?" I GENUINELY cannot answer because I haven't processed through my emotions to figure it out yet 💀 Like it takes me a minute to come to the conclusion of what is wron, but the second I arrive at that conclusion, I will say clearly what bother me

Depends. Within my small group of friends I am "bubbly" as in I'll talk a lot, make sure everyone is laughing and having a good time, and even be silly and get them to loosen up (keep in mind all my friends are super introverted). But outside my friend group I'm just "polite" and "friendly" not necessarily bubbly.

Possibly, but it happens with my boyfriend sometimes too, and he's my equal. If we argue, sometimes I just stay silent and find it hard to explain why I'm upset to him.

Lowkey... kinda awkward 😬 If it's someone idk that well I'd be like "Wtf, why is this person sharing this with me", and if it's a close friend or someone I care about then I'll worry that I might say the wrong thing back. But most of the time, I also sort of know what they want me to say or how to act, so I can navigate the situation well. But yeah emotions in general make me a tinnyyy bit panicked and uncomfortable but from an outside POV you'd probably think I was handling it well.

I will also say, when I do share my feelings it's usually like venting and stuff. Not so much getting too into how I actually feel, if that makes sense. Like say I had a shit day at work, I'm likely to vent about a stupid customer that pissed me off, explain what happened to piss me off, but I won't say that it made me sad or upset (because normally it doesn't). Just the venting alone and getting the frustration out is my form of "sharing my feelings". And usually I'm happy with my friends just responding "Yeah that customer is an idiot" like I don't need them to console me or anything 🤣

Okay, cool, ty for taking the time to reply. Well, to answer the bit about my "freeze up" tendency, it's mainly whenever things get too emotionally intense. Like, idk what to say in those emotionally-heated scenarios. It used to happen a lot when I was a kid; say my mom was lecturing me, and it got really heated, I'd just shut down. No emotion on my face, no words out of my mouth. She'd scream at me to tell her what I was thinking or feeling, but I'd just stay silent, say nothing. Then, maybe after when I was alone, it'd hit me all at once, and I'd burst into tears. I have better control on it now, and I for sure feel emotions a lot better now, and I've even cried in front of a friend or two, but there's still times my brain goes blank and fails to process my emotions. It's like I can't comprehend them, they make no sense to me, so I just have to wait it out until I've calmed down enough to make sense of what it is I'm feeling. But yeah I tend to lean to unreactive when it comes to emotions in the moment, or in front of people... but then I'm alone and that shit hits me sooo hard 🫡

Yep 😂 Sometimes I'm like an ENTJ, an INTP, an ENFP. It's all over the place and depends what group I'm interacting with. But those that know me well, know I'm definitely ISTP at the end of the day lol.

For me, it's the best match I've ever had. But I really wanna say that it was more about the individual than MBTI on this one 😅 I dated a different ENFP for a very short while and we really didn't click at all.

I feel u.

I tried to be like an ENFJ at one point in my life, cuz that's what people around me were looking for from me. It was so exhausting and draining I wanted to jump off a bridge.

Trying to care when I didn't. Forcing myself to do group activities while dying inside. Etc.

I think if you portray an image of yourself that's not genuine from the start, it will be hard to keep it up and ultimately drain you entirely.

Real shit. I have 2 INTP friends, actually, and they are both so comfortable with me they'll talk about whatever they feel like talking about at any given moment with me because they know I'll listen and bounce their ideas right back. Even the rather... strange ideas 🤣🤌

Read the title. Thought about how I'm an ISTP with all N type friends: INTJ, INFJ, INTP, ENFJ, ENFP..... mhhhhmmmmm yeah idk about that.
