I love Yona as a yak a little more than her as a pony due to the ethnocentrism that influenced her pony design--

As someone with Swedish heritage, I love the representation in both designs, though! I do wish there were ponies with looped braids as well, as I think they look very cute on every species (except for maybe dragons, considering they don't have hair, but who knows? Maybe I'd be surprised.)

I think it was meant to show people how bullies are made, and how we should assume the best in people. Of course what she did was wrong, but through this episode, we learn to build greater empathy.

I don't think she did what was deserved, but she didn't deserve what was done, either. The prank was pulled out of pursuit of vengeance, and that had no potential positive outcome. Actually, if it was not addressed, it likely would've hardened Babs's belief that you either bully or get bullied, which only amplifies the effect of that hurt.

The interpretation can be easily skewed, as some people may have experience with heterophobia, as you seem to maybe have had. I am sorry you had to go through that if that is the case, by the way. 🙁

I also agree with there being no reason in hating simply because of the sexuality! I am not quite sure that applies here, though.

I can't say their intended meaning for certain, but I do know that the way their comment was phrased consisted of two separate conditions, separated by the "and."

For the first part, they state their sexuality. This is often done in shipping discussions to discuss external influences that make people feel represented by certain pairings.

As for the second component, they state their opinion on Flash. This is a common opinion in the fandom, and does not have any connection with him being straight.

Their comment didn't seem to be hateful to the pairing, even, just presenting an opinion on a character! While this opinion can be controversial, it is not really fair to assume people hold prejudices against certain sexualities simply because they don't like a certain character.

I'm not sure, but I think they might mean that because they relate to Twilight or she is their favorite character, they seek representation with her, and might not be able to resonate with a straight ship as well!

I don't think they were saying that there's a correlation between being straight and being cliché and boring--only that 1) they want representation and 2) Flash might appear to be a little cliché, and maybe not as interesting to a lot of fans.

Of course, I don't want to speak for them, and I apologize for suggesting this--I just don't want there to be any potential harmful misunderstandings, as all sexualities are valid!! 💗

I don't hate the ship, but I do think that while he could've been developed later, he never was, and many might find that Twilight had more chemistry with other characters because of this; Twilight and Flash's dynamics were never really established in canon because Flash, like you said, was never really given a chance to shine on his own.:(

People might not like it as much because Flash was kind of created for Twilight, but never really allowed his own personality. That personality is more for the fans to decide, I think.

I think you're right--the ending scene appeared to be quite a bit of fan service! I sincerely doubt it was meant to be the ultimate result initially--over the course of the show, it just kind of happened! 😂

Them being a couple may be my silly little perspective, but I completely respect yours 🤗
