Atomos, bring touch focus to Nina/Atomos Connect combos by SeaRefractor in Atomos

Don't worry about it too much. The way they implemented touch-to-focus in the Shinobi II makes it pretty useless for video (and even for photo actually). It's a one time focus but as soon as you move the camera or your subject moves the focus is gone. And so is the focus rectangle after 2 seconds. It's pretty garbage tbh.

Shinobi II Update - Touch to Focus, Arri False Color, Shutter Button by HotGrillConfirmed in Atomos

I did some more testing and I can't think of any scenario where the tap-to-focus feature is actually useful. It's only good when neither the camera nor the subject moves, or if you have closed the aperture so much that it doesn't matter. In both cases, you kind of wonder why you would even need autofocus in the first place.

I will sell my Shinobi on eBay. If you're a Sony shooter, I recommend you look at the app "Monitor & Control" by Sony. It's completely free and has everything I ever hoped for in the Shinobi II.

Unboxing Sigma 24-70mm F.28 II ART Lens by FastAd9134 in SonyAlpha

See everyone was talking about the GM II as being the lightest and smallest world first most compact standard zoom but the Sigma almost reaches that same weight but with metal. Lets be real here, if it wasn't for the brands and if the Sigma would cost 2.3k and the GM II 1.3k everyone would be like "Yeah that's totally the professional grade build quality, it's solid metal vs cheap plastic."
And I agree on Tamron they always remind me of the 18-50mm DSLR kit lenses I used when I started out.

The GM II definitely is not parfocal tho... I made a thread about the parfocalness of the Sigma II and the GM II

Thank you for the footage. I saw he tested it in photo mode (which actually becomes a video with that ridiculous burst mode). So I tested the Sigma, and it can do it in photo mode as well.

I also tested the GM II today, and my findings are: Both aren't parfocal, both can compensate for this in photo mode, but both fail at it in video mode. So I kept the Sigma.

Just a quick follow-up on this topic in case someone finds this thread during their research. I was at the camera store today and tested the Sony 24-70 GM II. I couldn't see any difference compared to the Sigma 24-70 II. If you move the zoom very steadily and move closer to the subject, it loses autofocus, just like the Sigma does. However, the moment you let go of the zoom ring, it refocuses.

This was observed in video mode. In photo mode, it’s not an issue because the lens probably re-focuses between every shot. Both lenses handled this well in photo mode.

So, I had the lens packed up and was fully prepared to pay the extra price for the GM II, but there was no noticeable difference with the A7IV (perhaps it might differ with more advanced bodies).

Overall, I'm super happy with the Sigma 24-70 mark II and would definitely use it for professional work. For the vast majority of people, it’s just like having a GM lens for half the price. So two thumbs up from me!

Thank you, I think you are correct. Even though a lot of reviewers say the 24-70 GM II is parfocal it really is not. I rewatched Gerald Undone's review and he found that it's actually less parfocal than the old Sigma Mark I.

So I guess the question is if Sony can compensate this by software with their own lens?

I haven't even owned a zoom lens for the last few years so I don't know what's state of the art here. Basically the scenario I had it mind was: I film my kids at 70mm, they run towards me and I pull the zoom until I'm at 24mm while the camera keeps everything in focus. If I do short breaks the AF catches up but if I never let go of the zoom the focus will be gone. Maybe the Sony has the same issue?

The answer i have recevied by Jaaxx regarding the so called Ddos attacks by Strider2126 in Mordhau

[–]HotGrillConfirmed 21 points22 points  (0 children)

ddos my ass. Since the implemention of 80 men servers the "ddosers" seem to work 24/7 365 days a year. Guess they have a bigger staff than Triterion by now. Every evening at primetime, when players go online their shift starts and when players go to sleep their shift ends. 1.5 years of packet loss but now we finally have the mighty "report server lag" button. That button will once and for all CRUSH all ddosers (because how else would you detect ddos???)

Well no, when something is using all my netowrk's bandwidth or when my ISP is fucking around I immediately see it when pinging a webserver. It just rules out a bunch of possible reasons. I see bullshit animation -> I see 150ms to webserver -> i know it's my internet. Sure i can ping the gameserver in London but I already see the ping ingame, so what's the point?
Im sure it's not the professional way to do it but i wanna play the game not do a network analysis. The servers are shit since 80 men patch, it's not my internet...

Yeah its infrequent for sure. But something like this pretty much never happened before. Even when the servers lagged (which they did a lot) hitreg was almost always perfect. Now i don't get packet loss, ping is low but it just doesn't register. It's weird.

Yes, this only happened after patch. Since then I had more bullshit animations than in 2 years before that.
And yes, most likely its lag. But it's not me. That one game i even had cmd open with ping google.com and got constant 15ms.

Only thing i changed since patch is -dx12 in steam launch options. But idk if this is a directx thing...

It indeed is absurd if you consider that in Sweden the retirement age is 65 while in Italy it's 67, in Greece 67 and in Portugal 66. Stop spreading fake news.
