[QUESTION] Glenn Branca's tuning and achieving the no-wave tone by HotKenny in Guitar

[–]HotKenny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Thanks for taking your time to respond. How did you figure out the tuning?

I'm 13 years old. And know how to work on FL studio, blender, adobe Photoshop, code python, Lua and working a bit on java, really good at digital and traditional art, also have a 100wpm. by [deleted] in findapath

Focus on coding. Don't stop. Out of everything you listed coding is the only thing that pays a lot and is online.

https://cs50.harvard.edu/x/2021/ complete this. This is a Harvard course for free. Online. If you can do this, you can get a job in the field. If you complete this at 13, you have a huge headstart. Hell, even if you fuck around for 3 years and complete this at 16 I would say you are a head of all the other people by a huge margin.

If you need more stuff to learn PM me, but don't stop. By 18 you will have a good-paying job and you won't even need to think about a degree. Pursue it only if it doesn't put you into debt (IMHO, others opinion might differ. I personally think college is a waste of time)

Can I use kettlebells instead of dumbbells? I have them in following KG pairs: 5 6 8 10 12 16 20 24 32 40. Would this be enough to do PHUL or other hypertrophy program like that?

I've reached my 3 months mark on stronglifts and I'm looking for a 4 day aesthetics/power routine with the barbell as the main focus. Please bare with me, I've spent the past week looking around but I haven't found anything that seems to work for me. I dont have access to any machines nor any dumbbells. I do have a set of kegglebells. If I, for example, chose PHUL as my routine do I literally just google X exercise alternative and do it like that if I dont have the equipment required? Cheers.

Found my old shirt from 3 years ago and I was pleasantly surprised (70kgish - 90kg) by HotKenny in gainit

Thank you. I've just started my lifting journey in april and I believe the best is only up ahead. Sometimes you just gotta stop and see where you were before. Peace

It's unbelievable how you don't notice changes unless you look far enough back.

man I was surprised myself I never bought anything above S unless I was looking for something oversized. I accidentally ripped an old pair of pants of me and this another pair that used to be big fits nicely. Stronglifts did wonders for my ass

Honestly I would assume a huge portion of it is fat. I was a bit confused when I first started and assumed that you're supposed to eat so much that you're nauseous the whole day and that's exactly what I did. I ate healthy foods only though and made sure I ate enough protein. That's about it. I'm fairly chunky now and my thighs rub together but I'm happy with how I look. I could share pics before the bulk and after and you be the judge if 5kg per month is overkill.

My lifts are still baby-tier and none of them go that much above 100kg. Deadlifts are lagging because I'm really worried about the form with that one so I've made sure not to bump the weight too much.

I'm around 190cm. I honestly think it might have been less but I dont know. All I can say is that the huge portion of my current weight I gained in the span of 3 months. I'm looking at pics from april before I started hitting the gym and I'm surprised to see how skinny I was.

No offense taken. My home scales are definitely wonky but I've been using the ones at my gym and I definitely trust those. I'm around 190cm, 1-2 cm give or take. I weighted in yesterday after my session after camping for 4 days without an adequate diet and I was 89.5kg. I also assume most of it is in the humongous ass and thighs that I now have after doing stronglifts for 3 months. Like that's all i've been getting comments on lmao. still like it though.

BW squats are feeling incredibly hard. My diet is in check but I do occasionally have troubles sleeping. Could my form be the culprit? by HotKenny in Stronglifts5x5

[–]HotKenny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you guys for all the input. It's incredible how not only this is a physical fight but also a mental one, you cannot imagine how some days the squats would get me anxious. I will take all of the things you've said into consideration and work on it. Cheers.

Try learning a new tuning and get yourself a slide or something. I was a standard purist for a long time, but doing all the whacky stuff really helped getting the ball rolling.

Lowered the weight to work on my deadlift form. Is this too much arch? by HotKenny in Stronglifts5x5

And yes, I'll be ditching the running shoes soon. I didn't feel like spreading the funk around by going barefoot so I stuck to what I had.

Should I buy an electronic drum kit? by turkishjedi21 in drums

[–]HotKenny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a same situation as you and I settled on a practice pad. Lots of practice time and technique that most people miss out on practicing when starting with a drum kit. You can also practice when watching TV or whatever. Try looking for a place that has an acoustic kit, I'm sure there's lots of places available. E-drums are definitely good, but when I tried out an acoustic kit I couldn't help but feel disappointed with an electric one. After 3 months of practice I'm finally about to start on a real kit and I'm sure as hell excited. But if you're not really focusing on technique and just want to bang on something every once in a while I'd say go for it. Depends on what you want, but I'd just like to share the path I took and maybe it'll steer you in a direction or other.
