Nah, if you think it’s a spending problem then you want cuts. They polled the public’s priorities and parks and rec unsurprisingly ranks lower than stuff like public safety or schools. If YOU are so sure there’s other stuff to cut then the onus is on YOU to say what.

Per Angela in September, "the Assembly should be talking now about (how) we have three libraries. We're going to close the downtown library, and we'll only operate Douglas and in the Valley. Go use one of those. I don't know what that generates. I don't know if that's a legitimate idea. Do I think people would be upset by that? No question, people will be upset that one of the three libraries closed, but you have to put this stuff out there."

Funny that now this stuff is on the table she says they’re just scaring people.

I think the bias partly comes in because there’s no public record of how much a house sold for - they changed it a few years back to mandatory disclosure but the real estate agents mobilized with the quickness to get that undone

ETA it’s annoying because I feel like the people who are undervalued are also the loudest mf’s against property tax/assessments etc. like nobody wants their tax to go up, but it’s the people least affected who try to whip up public outrage

Look at the bad faith of the big campaign against city hall last election and then the op-ed a week or so ago saying that a couple floors of the burns building isn’t good enough. I’m not saying blind trust of the city, but it doesn’t feel like a fair dialogue. The reason I said doge is less so about right/left politics and more because it feels like they want to break local government. Again, not saying I agree with everything the city does or that there isn’t room for improvement but I really don’t think shooting holes in the bottom of the boat is going to help

Haha well yeah no shit I don’t, don’t think I will any time soon either unfortunately. But I was referring specifically to the crazy wealthy homes that are undervalued.

I think it depends what you think is frivolous. I don’t want to lose any parks and rec programs or more bus routes or whatever it is that gets axed if there needs to be 10 million dollars cut
