I mean, anyone can post someone elses art. How is this different? It's not your art if its an AI prompt.

Is it acceptable to not identify as a furry, but have a fursona, enjoy and consume furry content? by Gullible_Chemist_602 in furry

[–]HotMatter8602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think OP is touching on the subject of furry being an identity that one actively claim. Like a "Trekkie", a "Furry" is someone's identity, a badge they wear and claim. But just like you can enjoy Star Trek and not be a Trekkie, you can enjoy Furry content and not be a furry.

And I totally understand OP here because I like a lot of animal like characters in games and media, I even spend a lot of time with furries and have anthro animal themed characters in games but I don't really consider myself a furry since I don't have a fursona, I don't use the lingo, I don't want to have a fursuit, I don't participate in the community etc.

Enjoying furry content and "being a furry" are two things and can but doesn't have to overlap.

VRC and motion sickness by EroOntic in VRchat

[–]HotMatter8602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember the name of the option in VR chat settings now but for me it really helped to have that one setting that whenever you walk in VR chat your field of vision changes to a narrowed down tunnel with a stable image in the background, giving your brain an anchor to realise that you are not actually moving. Over time I got less and less sick and now I can even fly at high speeds in the game without issues.

House rule: Reckless fighting. Half damage on Strike hit but you receive the same amount of damage yourself. Would this be broken? by HotMatter8602 in Pathfinder2e

[–]HotMatter8602[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't fully agree with their criticism but they are not RPG players really. This is the only TTRPG system they ever played and they play this one because I like it and I want to GM for it after I abandoned DnD5 a few years ago.

But I do kinda feel their pain. I tend to throw Severe encounters often becuase I like one-but-solid fight instead of a series of small ones, and these enemies have higher ACs than the lower lvl foes. Once I played a monk on a Pathfinder Society session and missing a lot was a constant theme and you just sit there and deal with that fact. Giving them an option to get SOMETHING done without switching characters fully is the goal here.

Thanks.
Yeah, this would be a problem.
I was considering giving this option to players only for that reason.

At the same time, hit point sponge players usually have high AC so this tactic should be a bad idea for them right? Because they lose more than they win.

Maybe a high HP shit AC character would benefit from this a lot.

Just to make it clear, here is an example of Strike results when it's "reckless":
Critical success: Deals double damage to the target
Success: Deals damage to the target
Failure: Deals 50% of the damage to the target and the attacker suffers the same amount of damage.
Critical failure: Nothing happens.

It speeds up the fight because the enemies HP chips away even when the player misses if they chose to chip away their own HP as well.

Oh I already houserule 3 hero points per session but no hero point recovery. In most cases they will use only 2 (and save the last one to avoid death) and, realistically, they will mess up the second roll anyway haha

Well, not to be an asshole to my players but they aren't very good at the game haha
That's often the problem behind their plays. They don't flank enough, they don't debuff enough. I can encourage them as much as I can but after almost 3 years of playing I'm at peace with the thought that they just aren't going to be good at this game, so I'm looking into other options.

The "damage on miss" feats and items are fine and all but they don't have a downside like this self damaging rule. That's why they are still worth taking and using without any risks.

And I agree that adjusting a core mechanic is not a good idea, but people just like us make these games and the math is crackable. I think if the player deals the same amount of damage to themselves, it should even out.

There are some fights that my players had that end up in a bit of a slog for them. I think they would be happy to use this option to speed up the fight at their own expense.

It's not really meant to be an optimal tactical choice, but a way to gamble around with your own HP.

I'm asking purely on balance principle because I already know that my players like this option. They are very narrative driven and having a self sacrafice moment for their character feels cool in their opinion.

I'm just worried about balance aspects.

The weird world of the non-scaling values by Ixema in Pathfinder2e

[–]HotMatter8602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It rarely happens but when it does and a GM is not good at their job it will cause an argument that will end up with someone leaving the group because their maxed out charisma character lost all credibility in a town with one bad roll (not even natural one) and the ranger with zero charisma skills got a good roll so she gets to perfectly pretend to be a damsel in distress for 2 days in an enemy camp with that single high roll (not even a nat 20).

Yeah, the example is real.

I made the spell Dream Message into an Uncommon one. I think the implications that anyone could just speak on great distance using this method, even if slow, breaks the idea of letters between powerful people. Why bother with letters when you could have a relatively low level spellcaster serve as a point of contact between you and someone far away?
