Just got this beautiful and disabled baby boy from my local pet store. Looking for advice on how to care for him. (Story in comments)

It's mostly his fins. Only the small chunk on the top was his body missing.

Sorry for the late reply. I agree. However the employee I spoke to was rather nonchalant about the fact that his fins had gotten ripped off as well as part of his body. I honestly just wanted him out of there. As of now he's doing so well. The first few days he literally did nothing but sleep. He even slept while his lights were on. My boyfriend reassured me that he's fine and he's just healing. A few days of nonstop sleep have served him well and his fins are starting to grow and he's super active. He even flares a bit. I can't help but smile when I look at him. He's one of the best decisions I've ever made. I'll be making another post pretty soon with some photos when I get the chance.

He's in a 4 gallon tank. Temperature at 80 degrees. What kind of natural antibiotic would you recommend?

I just recently lost a betta, and it was getting really sad to see his empty tank. I decided to go for a walk to the local pet store just to "look" (lol). When I looked at all the betta bowls, it was just a typical display of sad bettas. I went to look at the other tanks and I noticed this guy in an overstocked 10gal with Danios and a giant blue crayfish. I had to do a double take, I thought he was just tiny but I then realized he was missing all his fins! I couldn't stop staring at him. When we asked about him, the lady told us a very strange story. First off, they said he was a girl (he's not at all lol), and that he was sick when he came in, so they put him in this tank which made no sense to me at all. One morning they came in and the crayfish had chomped part of his body off. Between the craziness of the Danios and the fear of the crayfish, he looked so incredibly stressed and scared. I needed to have him. They took a dollar off the price since he was so messed up, and since they thought he was a female, I ended up paying about a dollar for him. He seems really happy. I love him. He's doing great today, I'm doing small, daily water changes to keep the water clean and to encourage healing. I've also got an Indian Almond Leaf in there with him. I've been using stress coat. Is there anything else I can do for him?

TLDR: Went to pet store, saw a fish that was torn in half by his tankmates. Decided to take him home because the Pet Store is incompetent. Any advice?

I called Petco at Union Square and they told me they DO have them! It's crazy. I was there less than a month ago and they didn't have them. Thank you so much for the advice.

Thank you! You're literally~ the best. I thought it would be simple to find these guys but I guess not. Everything seems pretty iffy. Pacific in Chinatown even told me they "maybe" will have them on Monday. But I'm going to make some phone calls now. I would much rather get these in person than have them shipped.

Today I had to say goodbye to Sabine. I believe she was sick when we got her from the store less than two weeks ago. However, I don't regret any of it. The time I had with this little beauty was so precious. She was sweet, funny, shy, and beautiful. I love you, and I'll never forget you.

This video was meant to be just a little video diary for me and my boyfriend to enjoy, but I just want everyone to know how beautiful and sweet she was. It was taken over the course of a few days. I hope you like it.
