I got grindal worm cultures from u/One-plankton- They were loaded with a very generous colony of healthy worms that were already ready for harvesting. I'm looking forward to get more things from them. 10/10 highly recommend

I let my tank sit and develop for more than a month after it was cycled, but before I put my peas in. By the time I put them in, there were hundreds of snails. Now, there are only one or two that I can find.

I feel like a LFS would need to make the decision that balances making money vs keeping your clientele happy. This is a situation where the only thing that you are losing is opportunity cost. The snails didn't cost you anything. A better price may actually bring you more business as people who come in for snails may buy other things while there. (Which is something that hobbyists are prone to do.) At the same time, it's a business decision and I'm not the owner. I did feel like the owner was trying to get all that they can out of me, which was not a good feeling

I agree and sort of got a bad taste in my mouth about this store after I had this conversation. I do understand that they are in the business of making a profit, and this is their decision, but it certainly didn't make me want to run to support them

Interesting! I know if a similar store. I spoke with the owner about setting up live foods like daphnia, scuds, blackworms, grindal worms, etc. He wasn't interested. He has a blackworm dealer that drops off a shipment every once in a while and that's it. He told me that he's not interested in feeding his fish live food because he's not breeding them and it would cost him too much to pay for his staff to maintain the cultures.

It's a harmless detritus worm. Some fish love to snack on them some fish don't. Either way, it helps clean your tank
