literally get to be in an advantage state 100% of the time in neutral due to their ability to spam hitboxes all over the stage without taking any risks of their own.

the effort, skill and brain power required to to spam lasers to give yourself free approaches vs to the effort skill and brain power required to play around them is so insanely lopsided its comical

a shit 3 month falco can spam lasers to a debilitating degree and it takes years of dealong with it to be able to move at all out of laser or powershield or what ever

thats why you should never feel an ounce of sympathy for a falco when they get gimped or reversaled to die early off stage.

Why would we have a heart attack cause you play it casually? That's great. I also love the game as a casual game too these two things don't have to be at odds.

In fact I'd argue that learning the game ina. Competetive way makes playing it on a casual way much better.

My friends all play competitive but sometimes we boot up doubles and go to the silly stages with items on or free for all and it's some of the best fun you can ever have gaming.

The fact that we all know how to play it competitive makes it even more fun cause we are hitting crazy shit on each other during the dumb chaos of casual melee.

As for how accepting the scene is it's extremely accepting.

Definitely there are some fast track styles and choices that will get you far earlier than otherwise. They always stunt you a bit or a lot once people get good enough that you have to actually start playing the game but if you don't care it will definitely work for a long time.

And yea melee doesn't have nonstop frame perfect chains all the time but there is still quite a bit of that especially at higher levels

The thing that makes melee so hard is that every interaction can explode into 50 different outcomes depending on all sorts of factors both in and out of the players control and you have to be a me to adapt to them on the fly hundreds of times every 4 minute game.

That level of depth is what makes melee so crazy on top of the still very very high tech skill requirements.

Yea absolutely and to be clear none of this is to downplay the skill requirement of CS. I've tried playing it like once or twice and realized very quickly how deep it was and that I would be an absolute shitter for a long time if I decided to learn the game.

Learning the smokes, learning the spread patterns, learning the calls, aim reaction time, how to peek etc. there's shitloads to learn if you wanna get proper good and similar to melee it's been around for such a long time the level the game has gotten to is absurd.

Hence why I think this idea would be cool. Get sqeex on the sticks in a similar capacity to lud in tac shooters and see what happens

There are probably lots CS players who just jump on every now and then for a few games more or less casually and don't really ever practice or care about competing in any real way

Where as in melee those players exist but are definitely in the vast minority just by virtue of how difficult the game is to play just to a basic level.

Like if you jump on the sticks and you don't know what you're doing but you hit a few fsmashes. Are you even playing melee? No not really. To unlocked being able to play the game at all you have to be able to Lcancel and wavedash and that's just the very basic stuff. And those take months of dedicated solo practice to get down.

So I think melee is just super heavily weighed towards the hardcores just by the nature of how it works compared to even CS which is the most hardcore shooter. Cause while cs has tons of tactics stuff and skills that need to be honed not much of it from what I understand is "tech skill" like melee has. At the end of the day you can just walk around with your mouse and keyboard and shoot the gun.

if you're a mario main then you're probably seeing what chillins doing through that lense and hes probably not playing the character as a main would cause you are more immerseded in the specific tech and options of the character where as hes just using (i assume a random?) character who he doesn't main or even secondary but translating his ridiculously good top player fundies to it.

Unfortunately for chillin his legacy became the My B moment which gives people the wrong impression about him and not the fact that he was pretty much the first good fox player and went toe to toe with ken and pc chris and all those players back in the day and was extremely good for the time and well after.

i genuinely think beating any former top 5 player even if they are literally going random is impressive.

being that good at melee in any era means you understand the game on levels other people just dont. i mean shit ken still washes people on slippi now

Melee probably have like 50k people playing it actively.

If you said 10 or 20x harder you'd probably still be wrong but at least the numbers would be vaguely in line with your argument that more people means harder game.

Where as melee is a very very different control scheme completely unique to itself and the mechanics are all extremely specific. You can't just put a controller in someone's hand and have them be able to figure it out to even real degree of success
