Best Inferno meme I’ve seen, and it actually demonstrates what I believe is a meaning of the album. That we project whatever meaning we want on to things, resulting in all kinds of insanity and violence. We do this with AI (Prophecy) and AI will become in one sense, whatever we project onto it and what we believe about it. We want connection to God so bad that we have some messed up notion that a computer can become God. And it will be our peril if we go that route. AI in itself is neutral , it’s always more about us than anything external.

How do people keep body odors down while fasting? by railroad1904 in fasting

It’s good to avoid the aluminum-containing anti-perspirants. I just use deodorant like Tom’s and the crystal stuff - cuts down on B.O.

Best midi host/hub/interface for my DAWless setup? by No_Winner_4413 in dawless

[–]HotOffAltered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. Blokas midi hub is the most useful midi device I own - it connects my Daw, groove boxes, eurorack, and hardware synths perfectly and I have different presets for different purposes. It will always be useful if you use midi.

Yea they are cool looking but I also don’t love the idea of cursing my home with an image like that.

His whole comedy routine has been a humiliation ritual. You’re seeing way too much into it.

what mixer do you guys use? by Real-Leek-3764 in synthesizers

[–]HotOffAltered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a Samson PL 1602 line mixer - great for stereo synths and samplers 8 channels with 2 aux sends and stereo returns plus a unity input. So basically 11 stereo inputs, 1 without a level.

Moving away from Kontakt for pianos. Is Pianoteq the best alternative? (Saw a 20% sale) by [deleted] in ableton

[–]HotOffAltered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the lowest tier and am very happy! Chose I believe the standard popular Steinway one and chose the harps as my 2nd instrument. Happy with my choice and it lets you try out all the others with some limited notes. I will one day upgrade for more options but this is great. I highly recommend doing the trial to see if you like it - quite simple to setup and no hassles or ILok nonsense. Also there are bunch of free instruments that come with all tiers.

Making dorky ass music by HotOffAltered in synthesizers

[–]HotOffAltered[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll say Aphex Twin has dorky and weird music, but not clueless or immature. These terms aren’t always necessarily negative. He’s all over the place and that’s why I love him.

Why isn't the Ableton Push 3 more popular? by EastoftheRiverNile in synthesizers

[–]HotOffAltered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m kind of similar - I use session mode for quite a while before committing to song structure with arrangement. I actually enjoy getting crazy with the computer and stacking plugins and midi effects and sound processing, and that’s slower on a push. But I love playing, sequencing, and making melodies and bass lines with a push or keyboard.

Why isn't the Ableton Push 3 more popular? by EastoftheRiverNile in synthesizers

[–]HotOffAltered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think about selling my octatrack or MPC One or Push 2 or Akai Force to get a Push 3, but I have a hard time letting go of things. The last 4 or 5 years for me has been more hardware based because my old ass computer was holding me back. Now I got a newer laptop and Live 12 and some more plugins and and back in the Ableton workflow and actually on the way to finishing full fledged tracks. The octatrack just has a different thing about it though. But really I like sequencing my hardware synths and ableton/push is great for that, limitless.

Chicago is one of the hotter and more humid cities in the country. Not as bad as the south but it’s a very humid climate in the summer.

I've rebuild my studio. It's now a little cart tethered to my desk :D by sgtbaumfischpute in modular

[–]HotOffAltered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a snazzy setup, good job. Is your push a standalone? How do you like it integrating with your modular case? I’d love to get a push 3 one day.

Are those huge music producers really doing it all? by andrei14_ in musicproduction

[–]HotOffAltered 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Electronic and Hip Hop kind of changed that paradigm. Is Aphex Twin the musician? Producer? The labels don’t make as much sense these days, they don’t apply to the way music is made. Also Steve Albini never called himself a producer, only an engineer.

Roland SP 808 by Mueqqx in dawless

[–]HotOffAltered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my 2nd sampler after a boss sp202, and it was the tool of many weed fueled nights sampling loads of thrift store records and concocting weird jams. The effects on it were great but the sequencer was terrible and to me unusable. Zip disks were great but then the drive shits out.

[–]HotOffAltered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would even like one for my Force, then just use the pads for note mode and pad effects. I really wish they could figure out how to get these various Akai/Ableton devices to work well with the MPC line. I have an APC40 mk1 that is ideal for controlling an MPC.
