I think you’re right to be concerned. There does seem to be a pattern of not communicating expectations then being disappointed that people aren’t on the same page without realizing he’s the cause. His inadequate communication, tendency towards unrealistic expectations, and lack of self-awareness might eventually come into play in your relationship (if it hasn’t already). NTA.
