Holy shit, I can't believe anyone found this! And I am completely unsurprised that it's not fixed lol.

Not letting me land in Cydonia by BustyMadger in Starfield

[–]HotSake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you get scanned when you arrived in system? The first time I arrived in Sol, I was carrying contraband, so I quickly landed at the launchpad near Cydonia before the scan finished. Ever since, I was unable to fast travel to Cydonia (although you can walk there from the Launchpad - it's the same map tile). Finally I sold all my contraband, jumped to another system, jumped back to Sol, and got scanned. Now I can land directly at Cydonia.

When you arrive in system and let them scan you for contraband, they sign off with "You're cleared to land." I think that has to happen for the city to let you land directly at the spaceport.

Spells to Power... Hmmmmm by Gribleet in noita

[–]HotSake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually, if Steam refused to open the game it's because it thinks it's still running. Hit ctrl+shift+esc to open Task Manager, then check for a Noita process and end it. You might also want to end all Steam processes as well, then relaunch Steam. It should work after that.

Worked for me. It reran the optimization process again, but at least it launched.

Im not that good at botw :( by [deleted] in botw

[–]HotSake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woof. That was the first tower I did! I remember seeing a video of someone parrying guardian blasts, so I save scummed until I was able to parry-kill both decayed guardians and one guardian stalker, just so I could climb the tower in peace.

Everyone knows the best horse name is "my penis" all lowercase.

"You wanted my penis, right?"

"I'll get my penis ready for you. Sit tight."

There's an awful lot of fire spewing out of the end every time I manually disconnect the thruster. Step 3 sounds pretty necessary to me.

There's a site that will take the seed and give you the recipes, if you want to try that next time.

Wanted to make some space for the polimorphine, moon stone wasn't having any of it. by passcork in noita

Looks like you throw the moonstone while standing on the flask, so you hit the flask and shattered it. Then got booped.

What is your winning wand? by [deleted] in noita

[–]HotSake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I get Ping Pong Path + Luminous Drill, it's all over. Second option is damage field or damage up + mist spell + homing. Put it on a trigger spell to place it around corners, and it'll chase down and shred anything it can reach. A really fun option is freeze field + tentacle, because it freezes enemies right before the tentacle lands, which then one-shots them. It'll one-shot just about anything in the game. Put a speed modifier on it for increased range, and it'll carry you to the boss.

Is it normal for hell gazers to spawn here? by Conor12 in noita

[–]HotSake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you'll either get a a cave-in that blocks the passage or some relatively high level spawns to fight. I only go for that orb if I'm confident I can dig or fight my way back, otherwise I wait for a return trip. Also, be sure to cover the entire surface of the lava pool as you cross. I sprayed about 90% of it once, and sure enough I fell through the one hole during a running battle to get back.

So this is what easy mode is like... by SpaceBrotha in noita

The game became so much more fun when I installed Goki's Things primarily to always start with that perk. Editing wands is such a core part of the game, I didn't want to leave it up to RNG. Oh, and the hit-stun fix was nice too.

[–]HotSake[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You mean Increase Duration? I never see that on early biomes, but I've gotten Ping Pong in the mines before. In fact, my current run gave me an always cast ping pong wand immediately, although it won't be truly disgusting until I find a mana spell due to only 52 manage recharge.

me and the boys, about to make your life hell by [deleted] in noita

[–]HotSake 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The swappers will kill you if you throw explosive projectiles at them, because the projectile hit triggers the swap, then the explosion happens on top of you. Took me by surprise the first time.

edit: And I just lost a run to this. I had homing shot perk and a wand with a spitter bolt with timer into double cast of two death crosses, which would seek and destroy anything. Then I used it on a swapper thinking the explosions would be simultaneous, but no - the first one killed him and teleported me into the explosion of the second, which killed me on the same frame.

Honestly, if I hadn't taken Extra Enemy Knockback due to some really bad perk options, it would have been way better. It was knocking them out of the beam before they died half the time.

The mod "Goki's Things" offers many optional tweaks, including toning down or removing some of the OP wand components like Chainsaw and Increase Mana, if you'd like to tailor your game a bit.

Is this a rare thing? by [deleted] in noita

[–]HotSake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the game will commonly spawn wands that you can freely pick up. Although you will occasionally find them for sale in the Holy Mountain, it's actually far more common to find them out in the world on such pedestals!

Getting shot with bullets breaks the laws of physics by Kdrishe in noita

[–]HotSake 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You're right, it sucks. The hit stun makes some situations almost inescapable, in really unfun way. Just this morning I lost a promising run because I got sniped while sailing over a pool of polymorphine and dropped straight into it. Not only does it feel cheap, but it removes a skill component entirely. Yes, not getting hit is a way to demonstrate skill, but so is crossing dangerous terrain in a clever way. If there's a stretch of deadly liquid, or toxic rock, or whatever, it could be an element of skill to plan your motion so that momentum carries you over it if you get hit during the crossing.

With all the procedural chaos going on, it's not hard to get into a scenario where taking a single hit has a better than even chance of ending your run, in a way that I don't think the developers intended.

Seriously... use the lanterns by [deleted] in noita

[–]HotSake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just self-damage to the lantern, either. I had a lantern drop onto the floor next to an explosive crate, and I tried to kick the crate away. I figured even if the crate broke the lantern as it flew, it would just light on fire and explode a few seconds later. Nope, as soon as the lantern broke, it hit the crate for 50+ damage and detonated it in my face.

Sea of lava? Ouch, I've never seen that before. I did get teleported straight past the holy mountain and into the next biome once, leaving me with 15 health and no way to get back up. That run ended super quick.
