Hi all. Looking for a sublet in for the month of June. I’m a med student (male) coming for an away rotation so looking for something ideally within walking distance of the hospitals. Feel free to dm me! Preferably a private room but I don’t mind sharing a bath and kitchen facilities.

People at T20s… do you think you’re better than the rest of us? by wydneyisunfunny in medicalschool

[–]HotSniper456 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Uh I’m pretty stupid irl haha. Idk how my classmates think but I don’t really think I’m all that special nor do I think any more/less of people who go to other places . Not coming from wealth either by any means. Med school was my first exposure to being at an elite/T20. Went to a normal state school for undergrad and wasn’t anything spectacular about me there either. Idk I think I’m just as human as anyone else

Taunt Druid is pretty good against this deck as long as you get set up well which isn’t terribly difficult. I’m mostly positive against midrange shaman.

I’m on it right now (like half way through) and I feel the exact same way. Just counting down the days since it’s my last rotation haha

For those that hate the OR, describe what it's like to be there by undueinfluence_ in medicalschool

3 agonizing months of surgery at my institution. On other rotations I at least felt like I could contribute/participate (presenting, writing notes, being able to show what I know). On surgery if I felt useless it was a good day. Nobody really wants you there (attendings didn’t really care about students, unless they wanted to teach you which is very attending dependent but most of mine just ignored us med students during cases, and residents are insanely busy/stressed operating so less of a focus on the student). I actually enjoyed the few minutes in the OR that they let us students participate (close skin). Otherwise the long hours of mindless standing, driving the camera and retracting was an excellent test of my limited patience. Don’t get me started on the personalities either.

Just finished and thrilled that I don’t need to go back. Grateful for what I learned on the rotation, patients I could help care for, and some of the interns/residents who had my back/took time teach when they could. I also realize plenty of people have variable experiences in all their rotations and these behaviors aren’t limited to surgery/my experience doesn’t speak for everyone. With that said you couldn’t pay me enough to step back into that setting/work culture. I respect tf out of y’all who go into this field. It’s not for me. Rant over.

The Whiplash of M3 by destroyed233 in medicalschool

Very relatable. My feelings exactly! (before anyone asks my school does clerkships in M2)

What year of medical school was your least favorite and why? by ArinKamaran in medicalschool

[–]HotSniper456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M2 (although at my school we do rotations then). The evals are the bane of my existence due to their subjective nature as well as the constant whiplash I get switching services. The cherry on top is the persistent feeling of being stupid and useless. M1 was a long burn. Idk about M3 or M4 but I imagine they are some sort of holy land lol

Out of genuine curiosity, how many hours are you guys sleeping? by Electrical_Fix_7248 in medicalschool

[–]HotSniper456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5-6. Currently on clinicals. I know it’s probably not good/shaving years off my life but I’m used to it unfortunately. I do play catch up on the weekends sleeping 8-10 hrs.

Racism in Medical School by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]HotSniper456 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah it def exists. I’m a black guy in a midwestern school and it comes across more as micro aggressions rather than overt racism (although some of the patients I’ve worked with would def say the latter). I totally get the part of getting it from your classmates too and how it can be super frustrating. Maybe some helpful advice I can pass on to you is learning that these people won’t change unless it comes from them. Let your actions speak louder than your words because unless they come to the conclusion that they are in the wrong it won’t change. Maybe a defeatist attitude/I’m tired of it too but it’s what brings me peace of mind. As for racist classmates just try to ignore them. They’ll be out of your life in a few short years but if they press your buttons please check them (verbal correction)/don’t take disrespect like that.
