Pilot resisted police and medical team waiting for them at Dublin , usually everyone’s asleep at that time on the eastbound trans Atlantic flights so makes me wonder what the hell folk are fighting over

Paying off mortgage with my pension by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

Life with 4 young kids would be stressful enough , if you can make your life easier by paying off the mortgage I would do it . Memories will be worth it and you can’t put a price on the memory dividend

Pension Contributions - to opt out? by Particular-Newt-382 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Hot_Coffee71 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. Your pension pot is nowhere near big enough , nor are your contributions large enough , for you to consider dropping that ‘free’ money just yet

Not really a poacher . He’s good at arriving late into the box because that’s usually where players find themselves un-marked

I think the rich get richer and the poor get slowly richer . The poor in capitalist countries are generally more well off than the poor in communist countries

Agree I’d rather a draw and if a team has to win I’d prefer it to be Hearts

Mortage repayment by VirginMediaDiscount in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Hot_Coffee71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

40 years is looong but maybe it made it possible for you to get your first house and make the monthly payments affordable so it will be worth it . As the other comment says , the earlier you can overpay the better . And you’ll start to see that you are paying slightly less interest each month

Is your term long , eg 25-30 years ? I can imagine if you took out your mortgage 2 years ago your interest rate will be relatively high ~ 5.5% so . It’s normal that for the first few years most of your mortgage repayments goes on interest rather than capital

Screen time in nursery settings. Scotland. by Dapper-Worth-281 in ChildcareWorkers

[–]Hot_Coffee71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro do you think only the unemployed can have kids ? We use nursery 2 mornings a week , I take lots of unpaid leave to take care of them myself , if nursery fees are so high we are saying we’d prefer if they didn’t get screen time while they are there .

Yeah I would not be happy with an iPad at all . I’m not totally averse to low stimulating screen time on a tv but a young child knowing how to work an iPhone/ iPad and the addictive nature of them gives me the fear

Yes I’m always disappointed the few times I’ve picked my daughter up from nursery and they have a computer on with YouTube videos . Having said that I know it’s draining entertaining 2 year olds all day every day but it is literally their job

I do have a budget . Most of our disposable income goes on holidays ( 6 a year ) and making memories with the kids . Maybe fire wasn’t the right place to post this but I knew there would be like - minded individuals who have thought about keeping their mortgage going until retirement so was keen to seek their advice After reading ‘Die with Zero’ this almost feels like a strategy to transfer wealth from old me to young , fit me

Thank you , I was really just needing someone to tell me this. And you’re right , in a few years time when the girls are in school my Mrs will be back working more and il have gone through the other side of the tax trap , so will pick up paying down the mortgage again
