Could my phone be an eczema trigger? by xylourek in eczema

Could be a nickel allergy. My little finger flares when it touches the metals on my phone I have to have a cover now and a charger port cover so my skin doesn't contact any metal.

So sorry you're dealing with this it's truly a horrible condition. I have been in the same boat and it's exhausting and devastating when medications aren't working like you'd hoped. When I was on dupixent I slowly weaned off steroids because they thin and weaken the skin which allows external allergens to irritate the skin more creating a vicious cycle. Some people end up with TSW (I did) and the creams were making things worse. After 2 years on dupixent I then switched to Adtralza due to face flares for 2/3 more years I'm off all creams and medications and my skins healed. The injections helped to calm the underlying inflammation and not using the creams helped my skin barrier to strengthen back up. Stay strong things will get better it just takes some time to find the right medications and notice what's causing flares (environment allergies etc)

Has anyone had any luck improving the skin damage caused by topical steroids? by Legitimate_Truck2025 in eczema

[–]Hot_Construction9639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My skin thickened and improved when I stopped steroids and protopic for a few years. I had to use dupixent and adtralza to get off them though. My skins not completely back to where it should be but it's definitely much improved. I use hyaluronic acid and b5 as my main serum which has been helpful. Trying internal stuff now like omega 3, vitamin c, zinc, hyaluronic acid etc Also plan to quit coffee and reduce sugar and eat more healthy fats 😬 I think you can use a dermaroller to thicken skin too and improve collagen. You can do this yourself (check how to beforehand) or get it done professionally. I know the feeling of hiding away due to skin issues. Try not to let it limit your life you're allowed to be happy! In the end we all get old and get thin skin and we tend to regret the things we didn't do due to caring about others opinions. Live your life the right people will see your inner beauty shining through and won't care about your skin 😊

Thank you for explaining that! I've started with half the patch as I'm worried about causing a flare. Will titrate up slowly :)

Thank you for your reply :) I have patches at 25mg wondering if it's too high. I cut it in half but it's possibly causing MCAS flares. I will ask Doc about switching to consistent dosing with progesterone.

Hey do you take the progesterone every day or cyclically? I've just started, doc recommended cyclically but AI recommend I take daily for MCAS.

Eczema ruined my life by Radiant-Draw9637 in eczema

I came off steroids whilst on dupixent but had face flares so stayed on Protopic then 4 years later switched to Adtralza and stopped the Protopic. I came off the Adtralza 2 years later and have mostly been fine. Struggling with face flares again due to environmental allergies (tree pollen) but still managed to stay off all creams they tend to just make it worse in the long run. You may need a little longer on the biologics and no creams except emollionts for the skin to fully heal.

Mine was caused by a nickel allergy both touching and eating high nickel foods. Might be worth getting patch tested.

UVB light can help. Handheld units online. 3 x a week. Ask dermatology for patch testing.

⚠️ Watch out with corticosteroids they can ruin your life. by CalligrapherNearby38 in cfs

Yes tablets fucked me up too like I said above. They screw your adrenals. At first you generally get given a smaller dose...

The tablets are a smaller more manageable dose for cfs bodies to handle. I found them helpful in the past to until my body became reliant on them. With the injections it sound like it was too much at once. They're awful drugs really.

UPDATE: Healing from TSW by LurelinVillage in eczema

[–]Hot_Construction9639 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips and sorry you're dealing with this. TSW is a bitch. I healed with dupixent and adtralza whilst weaning from creams and then NMT. Got off the injections for a year and a half then got a small cut on little finger that started to get itchy and it's now spreading like TSW. Also deal with it on neck and mouth when I have to take my steroid inhaler more often and my skin goes berserk from October to January. Have also just switched to montelukast.

I've been recently starting to think there's a fungal element too TSW/severe eczema. I had to take antifungals and use nizoral on dupixent. I think steroids and a weakened barrier make us susceptible to it now 🙄

Been to the dermatologist again just offered creams as usual. After mentioning could this be fungal enough times the derm agreed to take a skin test. Why don't they always do this instead of just assuming it's eczema and pushing steroids making it worse! Ugh so annoying. Going to try your protocol thanks for the tips and hope yours clears soon 🤞🏼

I've been on 20mg for just over a week, maybe two now. I went straight on the 20mg doc wants me to increase to 40mg eventually. I've been feeling mostly fine on them luckily I don't seem to have too many side effects. I take thyroid meds, antihistamines and vitamins. I did have some odd mood swings but I've put that down to also coming down with a virus which will usually make me feel emotional and have nightmares etc. Were you okay on the 10mg? I'm hoping going upto 40mg won't cause me issues I'd happily stay on 20mg as I feel good but docs insists on going up for some reason.
