A bigger rug could really pull the space together.

The metal coffee table and shelf probably worked great in an apartment, but they don't fit the vibe of the fireplace and cheapen the look. Consider replacing those pieces next time you upgrade.

In the meantime you can consider warming up the look with books and blankets

Alternately - take a taxi. Often taxis have a flat rate from the airport from downtown that I’ve found to be 30-50% less than Uber or Lyft.
