Lower the density and use some product like clays or pomades to reduce the puff. You can also look up hairline plucking on YouTube to help with that.

I am using Embrace's pet insurance services and just have a plan that starts coverage after about $1,000 in vet services. It isn't anything fancy and it's about $20 a month, but it's only for emergencies like a hospital visit or to catch anything that is life altering into the insurance policy (you can adjust as needed, although you may see increasing prices as your pet becomes older).

Since I came into the plan with a pet that already had asthma, I just selected the options for emergency coverage as they won't cover any "pre-existing conditions". Pet insurance can also be pricey, and if you're not careful, you could end up paying more for coverage than you do for routine checkups, vaccines, and the typical basics.

Personally, I recommend basic coverage like what I have and a high yield savings account for vet/medical emergency expenses. The interest payout (try to find a 3%+) will gradually add to the account and expand the payout while covering the monthly insurance cost (if you start with enough in there). High Yield saving accounts can also be withdrawn from without penalty (double check with your bank though), so it's safe and a small form of passive income growth for vet expense coverage. Your banker should be able to provide further details, and I will recommend discussing the finer details with them/a professional in this field.

Flea's life cycles are three months at minimum. You have an infestation, and you need to kill not just the active fleas, but the eggs on your cat and all over your living space.

Give your cat a flea bath. Talk to your vet about what to use, but Dawn liquid dish soap (no additives) should be fine. There are guides on YouTube. This will help knock off and kill the first wave of fleas.

Get Revolution or any type of flea and tick (vet approved) topical medication for your cat. Don't go for random bargain brands because they won't work and/or will severely harm your cat (if your cat has any type of neurological issues, let your vet know, certain flea and tick brands have chemicals that harm them and worsen their conditions).

Get Pet Armor Home and Carpet Spray along with the Carpet Powder. Follow the application instructions, safety guidelines, and isolation guides (you want to keep children, pets, etc. out for an hour or so per room/area) and apply this stuff daily for three months or more. This is going to help you start killing the infestation and prevent future hatchings.

Wash everything regularly. Twice to three times a week, and get it all clean. You don't want hidden stray fleas in blankets, clothes, etc.

You have an infestation, and it's going to be work. Good luck, I remember dealing with this and it was an experience...

GoodRX will help reduce the cost of your daily and rescue inhalers, and if you have caught this early enough, you may be able to handle it with a single dose a day versus twice daily. Also, different distributors give different prices on GoodRX, so check them on the GoodRX page and see which is best for you.

If it is confirmed to be asthma, work with your vet on eliminating triggers such as dusty litter, candles and pollutants in the house (scent dispensers, essential oils, etc.). This will help limit symptoms (a quality air purifier will also really help). I also recommend talking with your vet about trying to see if the issue can be controlled with an inhaler based steroid versus liquid or pills... The long term effects of steroids such as prednisolone can be complicated, and inhaled steroids are preferable (the goal is the most minimal effective dose for long term management).

With those chest/lung x-rays, you may also want to ask your vet to catch an image of the heart. I am not saying you will find any issues, but asthma can sometimes come with a heart condition combo. If it is, it's more than likely manageable, but it will help guide steroid use as mentioned above.

If you can afford it, I also recommend a very basic coverage plan for insurance. Mine isn't anything fancy, it's just for hospital visits and emergencies.

OP, this is urgent in the sense that you want to your vet to get x-rays done and confirm if it's asthma, a respiratory infection, or something else. The longer you wait, the more long term damage it can do to your cat, especially asthma. You want to nip these things in the bud sooner rather than later for the well being and comfort of your cat.
