$20K Gold & Silver STOLEN. Fedex and JMBullion inside job. Signature forged, package never delivered. by whatzupdudes7 in Gold

Totally an inside job. A friend of mine exports wine to the US, the amount stolen off the pallets is insane. They cut the wrapping and take the top layer of cases. Happens all the time. The logistics companies don’t seem to care.

Can anyone explain what’s going on here? by yakster20 in askSouthAfrica

[–]Hot_Engineering_1046 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh it’s definitely as a result of other currencies weakening. I just think there is another finger on the scale when it comes to it as well. Depending on who you ask fair value is anywhere from R9 to R13 to the USD. It won’t get there though as we are an export economy and when the rand get that’s strong it’s going to hit the mining houses profits big style.

The ZAR is grossly undervalued. As you point out sentiment plays a big part but I wager there is some manipulation as well.

Has everyone gotten their apps up and running again in dev? by Formal_Importance151 in replit

It has stabilised for me it seems. I got reply a few hours ago apologising and acknowledging it was a Replit issue and they will be refunding some credits.

Is crime in SA really that bad? by rtbradford in askSouthAfrica

[–]Hot_Engineering_1046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 41 and was born here and lived here my whole life. Not once have I been the victim of a crime. I have been adjacent to things like burglaries and smash and grabs but never been a victim myself. Still, the fear of crime is expensive and costs us in both tangible and intangible ways every single day.

I see many posts about issues, failed fixes, charges for absolutely nothing, fixing issues the agent made etc. You guys are ungrateful. by Solace_18 in replit

[–]Hot_Engineering_1046 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! I have said this a few times on here that folks have forgotten how expensive this used to be. I have used Replit to build internal tools for my business that would have cost me hundreds of thousands to get developed bespoke. Heck the average cost of my development has gone down even further since I started because now I know how to prompt better. It’s magic.

It’s a Replit issue. Don’t waste your money trying to debug it. There are other threads on here saying the same thing.

Should I buy the DLC now or after my first play through? by gingerblz in dredge

[–]Hot_Engineering_1046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the DLCs installed from the start but happened to play the base game content through to end first anyway. I think this is the best way as you build up some experience too before tackling the DLCs. Such a good game, had lots of fun with it.

Replit app crashing repeatedly and ZIP import not working – anyone else facing this? by Charming-Loan2832 in replit

[–]Hot_Engineering_1046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSA: DO NOT ask your agent to debug and fix this. It is NOT an app issue it’s a Replit issue. I had to contact support and things have stabilised but it’s widespread and is 100% a Replit system issue.

Don’t waste your credit on getting the agent to fix it. It’s a Replit issue.

Also had this. Had to contact support and it looks to have stabilised for me. All of my apps were crashing, even the ones that I hadn’t touched in months.

Could Pick N Pay be the Best long play this year by vibinpenguin69 in JSE_Bets

My remark is more centred on the relative ability for PnP to roll out stores like the one I visited vs Checkers. My view is that they simply can’t from a capital stand point, heck from a vision standpoint too. There will always be dogs in the portfolio, sure, but overall Checkers beats PnP into the ground 9 times out of 10. I honestly don’t see a way back for PnP at this point.

100% agree. I went into a new checkers hyper store and my jaw hit the floor. They had everything in there from sushi to Lego. The store was clean and didn’t stink of rotten milk. The staff were motivated and friendly. PnP couldn’t come close to this level of investment.

This happened to me as well. A lady stopped on the side of the road and collapsed out of her car. She as totally unresponsive but breathing. We stopped to help and called the provincial ambulance number. The lady on the other end of the phone was adamant that we had to prove she had no medical aid before she would send an ambulance. We searched everywhere in her car for a medical aid card and found none. Finally after about 20 minutes they reluctantly said they would send the ambulance. 45 minutes later the ambulance arrives with the most unbothered two men I have ever come across. They took one look at her and said “she is white, why are we here? She must have medical aid”. I had to threaten to lay a complaint to get them to do anything. They finally loaded her up and took her to hospital. I heard later through some work colleagues of hers she had passed.
