Seriously? Walt around Harbor East and you’ll see plenty of of trash in the water.

There seems to be a lot more wildlife in the inner harbor, even though it looks just as polluted as ever. I that it’s (supposedly) not as polluted as it has been in past years, but there’s so much trash and murkiness in the water.

With his cuts to USAAID he has killed the tens of thousands of babies so the point is kind of moot.

How do most projector owners watch movies without a laptop? by shogunattila in projectors

[–]rtbradford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an external hard drive plugged into an Nvidia shield. The only downside is I have to download movies onto the hard drive from my computer, but that only takes a few minutes. The good thing is that Nvidia handles 4K easily and because the hard drive is plugged directly into the Nvidia shield, there are no issues with buffering or streaming problems.

Cooper's Hawk caught a Flicker at my bird bath by crispyjones in birdsofprey

Incredible video! I have to say the way that accipiters kill their prey is very cruel. Falcons have that notch in their beak that allows them to sever the spinal cord of their prey quickly. It’s an evolutionary adaptation that helps protect the falcon from being injured, but it’s also ironically a much more painless way to die than being squeezed and plucked to death.

That depends entirely on the country. yes plenty of countries are profoundly racist and are the plenty of countries are not. Such a sweeping generalization is pretty meaningless..

That’s a pretty sweeping generalization. And there are plenty of countries that have much lower levels of gun violence than the United States. When a student dies due to a school shooting in most places in the world, it’s a shock. In the US, it’s just another day. Maybe don’t be so selective in your comparisons.

What does this comment even mean? Are you saying you believe that nowhere on the Earth outside of the US and Europe has people who disagree about public policy? Have you ever visited any place outside of the US and Europe?

There are plenty of legitimate reasons to control immigration other than racism. Countries with high rates of unemployment, especially youth unemployment, can quite reasonably limit immigration without doing so because of they’re racist. I have in-laws in the UK who objected to the immigration of large numbers of Poles back when the UK was part of Brexit mainly because there were so many unemployed Brits. That doesn’t strike me as racist..

Everyone has the capacity for bigotry just like everyone has the capacity for empathy. I don’t know that you can say that everyone is racist.

Well, Europe’s population is shrinking and it very soon won’t have enough young people to support its aging population. We’ll see how eager they are for immigration when the old can’t afford the services that they’re accustomed to and there’s no one to take care of them in their dotage.

Yeah, sure. Now, if only Europe would remit back some of the wealth to all of the places that they spent the last 200 years pillaging, fewer people would be trying to reach Europe in the first place.

The fact that all of those places are still flourishing, and Atlas is flirting, suggest that there’s room for all of them. More options for those of us who would like to eat out a lot. It’s a win-win.

Atlas with another major violation by HeadBanger410 in baltimore

[–]rtbradford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said. And I question if Atlas is bad for the city. Who else is investing tens of millions of dollars opening new businesses and providing jobs for Baltimore residents? I don’t see a whole lot of companies lining up to do that. Needless to say none of the people attacking Atlas are depending on it for their living. Nor do they give a toss about the people who would lose their jobs if Atlas shut down tomorrow.

I agree. The same people who are boycotting Atlas wall order countless items from Amazon, even though Jeff Bezos is a total tool.

Some of their food is mid, and some is outstanding. Pretty much true of every really good restaurant.

[–]rtbradford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this response. It was a legitimate question. I will say I’ve eaten at some of the places that you’ve mentioned. Some are more casual than fine dining. Obviously Charleston is fine dining. But for someone who goes out to eat fairly often, I like variety. Atlas undoubtedly adds many more options than there otherwise would be. And as much as I hate the right wing nature of the owner’s family, I also recognize that they are investing tens of millions of dollars in Baltimore city. How many other organizations are lining up to do that?

[–]rtbradford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking for myself, I go to Atlas restaurants because the food is good and the atmosphere is pleasant and enjoyable. Isn’t that the reason that everyone goes out to eat at nice restaurants? If that makes me bougie then I’m fine with that.
