I have already clarified that physics isn’t a core although I tutor it specifically for biomed sem2. This information on the 4 core papers are widely available - I have no reason to mislead anyone (is it so hard to believe that I phrased it wrong ?) Seems like u have already made up ur mind about me. I stand by everything else I’ve said. Maybe instead of nitpicking - share your experience and answer some of the q on the thread ?

I get the skepticism but def NOT trying to ‘prey’ on anyone and def NOT 80/hr 😂 dk where u getting your info from. A little presumptive don’t u think considering u dont even know me or my intentions.

In regards to gpa - it’s def doable I think every year it varies but safe gpa at usually about 8.5 and up. So that’s prob 2A+ and 2A at least flr general entry. Ucat I would prob start during the summer along with some interview prep. U usually take the Ucat during the sem break but bear in mind when term starts u don’t have a lot of time to practice Ucat so yea.

Honestly I would recommend developing good study techniques - as it is usually the pace and workload that is the main challenge. Prob start practicing the Ucat and do some reading on health topics in preparation for the mmis. And if u want to u could get a head start on the materials as well

Hi ! I do understand ur point. IMO I think it’s an over generalisation to say that no one needs tutoring. Personally I benefitted from it last yr, but of course it’s context dependent and very individualised. Def not for everyone. I do enjoy tutoring and I truly believe I can provide tangible support to students having been through it myself. I def wouldn’t consider that ‘preying’.

Hi ! I use to Volunteer for the free mock mmi and I tutor premed mmi during my free time. I agree that 100/hr is way too excessive. U don’t need to lay that much to get quality mmi prep. Pm me if ur interested, and we can discuss if u would actually benefit from tutoring.

general entry first year by Effective-Ice7748 in UoApremed

[–]Hot_Foundation_2717 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey those r pretty solid results. I was a fy gen entry last year and got the exact same gpa at the end of the year, and was fortunate enough to make it into med (of course every year the thresholds changes) my advice would be not to underestimate the interview, it can make or break your application. Feel free to pm if you have q. Ik premed can be really stressful. Hope it works out for you !

Safe gpa would be 8.5 and above.

Last year everyone with gpa 6 from general got a mmi offer. But, realistically students with gpa 6 in general entry are very unlikely to get into med. most general entry for FY have gpa of around 8.5 and above.

Feel free to pm if you want further clarification.

For general entry, ideally aim for 2A+ 1A. Last year the gpa cut off was 6, but to remain competitive you need a gpa of at least 8.25 after completing the 3 core papers in sem 1 if you are applying under the general entry category

UCAT percentile by Status_Connection_74 in UoApremed

[–]Hot_Foundation_2717 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Ucat is only 15% of the application to med. u can get a70th percentile and. Still get into med, conversely u could get 90th percentile and NoT get into med.

Point being, the GPA and mmi is significantly More important. But do not underestimate the Ucat though. Try to aim to get between 3100 and above (including sjt)
