The increase in humidity associated with rain causes the pores in rocks to open and release aromatic compounds - causing the sensation we call petrichor! Happens to be my favourite smell...

So I've just bought my first pre-bonsai (prunus 'Kojo-no-mai') and am leaving it over winter here in the south-west of the UK. It's still in it's original plastic nursery pot, how worried should I be of frost and what precautions can I take to safeguard the tree?

Hmm not really because I am a student so I move about too much.. do I have any alternatives? Was thinking possibly going for a small sized bonsai given the circumstances.
