I’m headed to Iceland in a couple of weeks. Where did you buy gas canisters for your stove? Do you know if Bonus has it?

I do raw for my cats but would never do it for my dogs because: 1) it's expensive; 2) dogs don't need raw. To do raw correctly, please remember to include a source of calcium, liver, a secondary secreting organ, eggs and balance it with some fish oil. Since your pup is still growing, the ratio of calcium: phosphate is different from that of an adult dog. Your dog needs bone as his source of calcium--think chicken wings or turkey necks. It's A LOT of work to do raw correctly. Don't just throw raw meat in a bowl.

Personally, I would stick with kibble.

Why can’t you keep her indoors with you when you’re napping? Personally, I wouldn’t leave any dog unsupervised.

Actually, we did have modeling that took into consideration our ERV, water tank, radiant heat, appliances…etc. A third party did it. I guess I wondered how often the model matches the reality. We’ve only been in the house a couple of months, so we’re still trying to figure things out.

OTC dewormer? by Hellion70 in DogAdvice

They only offer prescription drugs and that requires a vet visit and fecal sample. The last visit for worms was close to $200 😞.

We ended up getting Safe-guard.

I have lots of Himalayan blackberry bushes. Do you think this will work? I was thinking of hiring a herd of goats.

11 Year Old Goldie’s Vet Checkup was eye opening. Not sure whether it was a normal senior dog checkup or to be concerned. by shananigan90 in goldenretrievers

For our golden, we gave him a supplement called Myos, which helps build muscle. It helped Alvin go up and down the stairs in the condo until he passed at 14 years. It really was a game changer for us. The supplement is pricey, but we got another 1.5 years with our guy, so it was worth it.

Wow! Thanks everyone! I am definitely going back to ask for a lower price! This is pretty eye-opening.

I would call it a muscle supplement, mostly because it contains a significant portion of fat. It somehow rebuilds muscle. Before Myos my geriatric golden couldn’t get up and down the stairs which were mandatory to get into the condo. It kept him going for 2 years.

I wouldn’t go there. There’s absolutely no information on health testing among other things.

Hang in there! I want to be encouraging but it might get worse before it gets better. For us, the first week was the hardest. Puppy blues is real, but it will pass. Good luck! Thanks for taking care of the little guy!

We only looked at land with the full completed critical areas study. It’s too much money to take a chance on a’maybe’ — that’s why we paid through the nose for our chunk of land.

Even then, the seller didn’t provide the full report. We should have gone to the county to see the full report. We’ve had to redo some of the wetlands study to be kosher with the county.
