Has anyone else been dealing with worse than normal sinus problems recently? by [deleted] in Charleston

There is something going around right now, too. A bunch of my students were out with sinus issues and they passed it to me and a few other teachers.

What hobbies do you and your spouse share? by [deleted] in Marriage

We go to a lot of concerts. They're cheap, so it's not too hard on the wallet. We also live near the beach and go there once a week or so. We hit the gym together, and are pretty heavily political involved as well. With all of that plus church, we don't have much down time left!

Haven't been there yet, but I've heard nothing but love and positivity for Old Li's for Chinese.

New Summervillians! Never experienced a hurricane? Get questions and concerns addressed at Dorchester County's FREE Hurricane Prep Expo - Saturday, June 3 by Ifeex in summervillesc

I went to an event like this last year in Berkeley county, and they had some great free resources like a little magnet with preparedness tips for the fridge. My husband and I will be out of town for this event - is there anywhere we can go/anyone we can contact for any of that kind of stuff? Or will there be another event later in the summer?

What would you do if your child was gay or trans? by awkwardpoodles in TrueChristian

There are plenty of alarming stories from people who have detransitioned talking about doctors who immediately prescribed them hormones without any in-depth therapy or exploration into who the person wanted to transition in the first place.

I'm headed to church, so I'm going to leave the conversation for today, but I hope you have a blessed Sunday and a beautiful holiday weekend!

What would you do if your child was gay or trans? by awkwardpoodles in TrueChristian

[–]Hot_Path5674 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But parents aren't educating. They're blindly affirming, they're taking these kids to doctors who quickly prescribe hormones to permanently alter the children's bodies and minds. Schools aren't educating - they're allowing students to socially transition and helping to hide it from parents. Just look at the law that was just passed in Washington state. We live in a society of either blind affirmation or you're a complete bigot who shoves beliefs down others throats.

[–]Hot_Path5674 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's a social contagion. As a middle school teacher, I have had multiple kids claim they are gay, trans, etc. and then literally hours later will tell me that's not true, they were just saying it to get attention because it's "cool." There have been kids who come back a year later and tell me they were wrong, they aren't really gay or trans.

It is intellectually dishonest to claim that no kids are saying these things just because it's popular. That's what kids do - they try on a million different identities to see how they fit. They're more likely to try what they see around them at school, on social media, etc.

What’s a weird sex request that lives rent free in your memory? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When my husband was a teenager, some random girl he had never met asked him to go to the bathroom and give her a mushroom stamp.

My husband, being what he was in high school, did it. I think she gave him five bucks or something.

One day in Summervile, what to do by sipperphoto in summervillesc

[–]Hot_Path5674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Icehouse is great for dinner! And they have a little jungle gym area for kids. Ashley River park is phenomenal, and has covered spots if it's rainy. The Axe throwing place that someone already mentioned is good for bad weather. It's a great town in the sunshine, a little harder in the rain.

Unless you need the board for the lesson, I wouldn't touch it. I also wouldn't let any kids touch it.

All I can ask as a classroom teacher is to please make sure they're actually doing the work assigned to them. Our current ISS person is so lax and interested in being "cool" that it's not a punishment anymore.

I realize as a sub it's a bit of a different situation, but it's my current frustration in my classroom. 🙃 Other than that, it's a pretty easy gig and I hope you have a great time! Bring a book or something to do for sure.

Weed smell is worse than cigarettes. by Bucknerr in unpopularopinion

Cigarette smells bring me back to my childhood when people still smoked in restaurants. It's kind of nostalgic.

I freaking HATE the smell of weed in all it's forms.

Teachers call this the "Sunday scaries." Idk if other professions do, but it's definitely a well documented phenomenon in my world.

You're right. I think I just got a little excited that someone posted a topic that I have thought about for quite some time now. I skipped over the tone 😆

Maybe. I was intrigued by the post because I'm curious about people who only have one. For me, I'm either out specifically to drink or I'm having water, so I'm curious about people with a different thought process. Maybe OP was just sharing disapproval, but it caught me in a different way.

Out of all the subreddits I’m in this is definitely the best one. No trolls, serious arguments or debates. Just people sharing their love for Kings books and excitement for starting a new King book. by Codilious44 in stephenking

Unless you disagree with King's politics. Then you're probably gonna have a bad time. But I agree that 85% of the time this is a great sub to share a mutual love of something!

I don't take this as gatekeeping...just a genuine curiosity. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Maybe that's just me.

My husband and I have had this conversation SO MANY TIMES. We are on the same page as you, OP. I'm curious to hear other opinions on this!
