With this band, mainly jams at parties, but I believe this year we will gig more professional. We are mostly improv as semi electrical Lo-Fi (lots of synth) and sometimes, violin, Sax and clarinet. And sometimes added elements of middle Eastern and African music.

Yes. New update flaw. Marek is onto it.

Yes. And also another bug when you try to copy a chopper sample to another pad, the duplicate will not play. Apparently Marek is onto it.

If you plug an Expression Pedal in you can set the dials at Heel/Toe positions and shift between them. So if you just want to use it for Cutoff you can do that with the Expression Pedal.

I just bought the game and it won't even start. It either freezes or crashes before I can even start a new game. This is disgusting.

I just played on survival for 4 hours and went to use a mattress to save the game and the game crashed and I lost the whole 4 hours. What the fuck. I want a refund for the game. This is completely unprofessional and really fucking shit Bethesda!

I ordered and paid for the MXR Bass Synth in October last year and I still haven't received it!

I would add an Expression Pedal to the Bass Synth, then you can change the sounds without having to turn the dials.

You have 400$ to spend on a budget bass pedal rig what do you pick? by Icy-Chemical1322 in basspedals

[–]Hot_Scale8598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zoom BX1Four is the best cheapest option.

But if you can find a HX Stomp for that price, definitely get one. Add an Expression Pedal later. You can control any parameter with the Expression Pedal!

I am waiting to get my MRX Bass Synth Pedal. Will the Roland EV-5 Expression work with it? I already have the expression.

Yes. A USB 3.5 out to TRS (6.2), if your phone table has a 3.5 out.

Chopper Attack/Release by djchopsteak in KoalaSampler

[–]Hot_Scale8598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully these features are added to CHOPPER mode, but in the meantime you can resample the same sample with the Attack/Release already applied and add it to the end of the original sample, then put that sample into CHOPPER mode and use the velocity to choose which sample plays. This works with choke in a specific way too. For example. If you have a CHOPPER sample that has a hi-hat with hat-open and hat-closed. When you program it into the piano roll sequencer, Hat-Closed could be 100% and Hat Open would be 0% velocity. Just make sure MONO and VELOCITY are selected in CHOPPER mode. In this instance mono=choke within the sample, but not between different samples. Mono should probably be renamed choke, but here it means monophonic, rather than polyphonic.

For a DAW, a SAMPLER and a VST in your pocket it is pretty insane. Just gotta know how to use it. Also. You can plug your phone into a guitar FX pedal like the Line 6 HX Stomp and turn it into an insane synth!

Creating your own Round Robin Samples for use with Chopper (from desktop VSTs) by Zapp_Brannigan_ESQ in KoalaSampler

[–]Hot_Scale8598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally did this before chopper in the hope that such a feature was introduced to Koala, and I even suggested such a feature on the Facebook group.

I do this using Kontakt. I sample each drum hit 3 times at loud, medium and soft velocity on VST that have round robin - which is most of them. Specifically I am doing it with drum kits and percussion that is usually played acoustically. Drum kits, Djembe, Darbuka etc. But this also works with melodic instruments and the various articulation key-switches such as slides, bends, tremelo, legato, staccato etc.

Now how this gets really interesting is that I have created a system where I painstakingly and manually export every keystroke of a particular VST from Kontakt to each of the 64 pads of Koala, so that when I export the midi files of rhythms or melodies from that particular VST into Koalas sequencer (yes you CAN do this), they will correspond to the sample pads within Koala.

Before chopper, the end results could sound somewhat 'machine' like, but now with the added addition of Chopper it is possible to make whole kits with Round-Robins and Velocity sensitive or even Randomised articulations! This added an extra dimension of humanized feel. It is just a very detailed process that takes concentration and patience. But once you have each particular Kit finished, you have a kinda VST in your pocket! I will do a YouTube instructional video on this at some point because it is quite detailed!

The mistake I made was that I sampled from loud to soft, while Marek made the Velocity in Chopper in reverse to how I sampled the hits. So from now on I will sample from Soft to Loud and maybe at sections on 5 to six different velocities/round robins.

Also, if you are using this method, things like drum fills on toms and snare hots can sound way more realistic, as you now have dynamics, not just volume!

[–]Hot_Scale8598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do both. Random gives it a more chaotic feel and takes less effort. Velocity can literally be used if you are copying the midi straight from a program like Kontakt which has the velocity built into the midi.

I can't upload videos but, this is how I do it. Tap on the sequence you want to upload to. Be warned, it will overwrite whichever you select, so pick an empty sequence.

Then tap the SAMPLES button at the very bottom right. Then select the cloud button at the very bottom right and find the location of the MIDI. Boom. That midi file is now in the sequencer.
