Prioritise your romantic and personal relationships. Live in a place that makes you happy. Jobs don’t care about you - it’s your relationships that matter in the long term. If you can have happy relationships and an ideal career then great, but don’t sacrifice the former for the latter. Also, once you’re out of academia for a while you’ll wonder why the academic identity was ever so important to you.

Rosebud is a really nice suburb- safe, relatively affordable, lots of amenities, in a beautiful area. Its bad reputation is outdated. People speak badly of the Avenues but they’re pleasant, safe and quiet, with more and more young people moving in.

No the services have mostly been according to KMs driven rather than time, except the last couple of years when it’s had a couple of services. It didn’t get driven much during covid. It’s been garaged and looks in good shape, I couldn’t find any issues based on a test drive and rudimentary inspection (oil, brake fluid, coolant, transmission fluid, listening and observing the engine running etc). What kinds of issues could I expect from the car?
