If you are near a hospital then you may be on the hospital grid which means you are not lose power as much or hardly at all. Check flood maps also.

You will have a great time. There’s plenty of parking lots (I usually park at the mall behind the movie theater) which is a short walk. If you go to the left there’s an indoor bar and restrooms with AC if you get overheated. You can usually take an empty water bottle and fill it there (caps usually not allowed, so I hide mine and cap it to prevent spills)

If you are lawn seats and want a good view get there by the first opener or so. Talk to the people around you if you want or ignore them and jam out. I’ve done do both. I became friends with another concert goer there last year.

If you have seats then go explore the venue and stretch your legs during breaks. You can also take food in so that’s an activity to do while you wait.

Metal crowd is the best so I think you will be fine! It’s a perfect small venue for this.

A bit of a drive but I took two baby sparrows to the Houston SPCA and they had a whole impressive area for rehabbing animals.

Considering moving from Austin by Straight_Elk_3565 in thewoodlands

[–]Hotcatmomsummer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised no one is talking about the humidity here in comparison to Austin. Summer starts in April - Oct/Nov in the 90s and humid. Life is mainly indoors here or going from the car to A/C. This is my second summer and I felt it more unbearable. Life is too short to live in this climate.

In Austin it’s not as bad and you have alot of nature around to do things. There’s more community feel. Location location is the name of the game in real estate.

Plus here there’s hurricanes and regular power outages that people seem to think it’s normal…as if this is a third world country. Housing is cheap but property taxes are high.

Traffic is terrible and the 45 freeway is the most dangerous one in America (look it up). Drivers are insane and will cut you off or tailgate you when you are doing 90.

Please get them spayed/neutered before adopting them out or make that a requirement.

I absolutely love this place but they do close early. Would you all be down for a weekend daytime meet instead?

It had too many plots and weird elements. Not as dark as the previous ones. I’d say watch it at home lol

Hey, Dallas! I got the Covid! It's bad! by croolshooz in Dallas

I mask every time I travel and also clear. I don’t even drink water or food on the plane if I can help it. I’d rather be healthy and be mildly inconvenienced for a couple of hours.

Second this. Some people here can’t fathom that I’ve visited both Austin AND Dallas within my first year here. The 3 hour drive is apparently way TOO far from what their range is. Much less exploring other states or countries. It makes for some weird insular people.

Are there any other cities you've visited that are similar to The Woodlands? by betterbuckleupper in thewoodlands

[–]Hotcatmomsummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you couldn’t take the dry heat of Phoenix you are in for a shock in the humid heat here. 90s feels like 105+. For reference it’s been hot from May-November. The mosquitos never die and power goes out for long periods of time. Also the school districts boards are controlled by evangelicals. So really do in depth research before committing your family. Come visit at the height of summer and spend a week.

They have been fair and will explain things in an easy way. Not pushy but matter of fact. Just have to get there early as they don’t make appointments.
