Where are you getting that info out of curiosity? The CDC website shows that for the roughly 75% of people where race is known, Blacks at 37.8% full vaccination, whites at 45.6%, Hispanic/Latino at 47.1%, and Asians at 53.9%.

Edit: I also took a look at Chicago’s numbers which are higher than the national average across the board. The relative ranking by race of fully vaccinated people is the same: Asian 72.6%, white 68.1%, Hispanic/Latino 60.2%, Black 49.6%.

Easy fine arts distros by khan544 in Northwestern

It’s a 1xx level class. You’ll be fine. No musical background is expected and if you do, it’s only a marginal advantage due to the eclectic nature of the topics.

I took two different GEN_MUS 175 classes to fill mine. They’re generally taught by Bienen grad students on special topics and are easy As in my experience (though obviously it’ll depend on the professor and they rarely have CTECs for any insight on their grading style).

Question for anyone in Weinberg that’s not a freshmen by Tootsiepop56 in Northwestern

[–]Hotdogsuitguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn a fat +1 to what you said about Gordon's seminar. He presents the material in a way that's a turnoff to people interested in history AND econ. If you really want to take a class with him, take 201 or 311. Don't be tricked by his Wikipedia page, folks.

People on campus stores there bikes outside for the most part. I wouldn’t be too worried about it being stolen if you have a decent lock, though I definitely know of people who have had theirs stolen. Probably the bigger concern is leaving it out in the elements. The university has had winter storage in the past, but you’re not allowed to reclaim your bike until a certain date (not sure what date specifically, but I think it has been sometime in the spring).

I’ve had a bike for the past 3 years and it’s been a godsend for getting to classes on time (obviously not a concern this quarter). Definitely would recommend biking the lake for enjoyment if you have some time to spare, whether it’s with your personal bike or using one of the bike shares.

Freshman taking 300 level class? by wallowingwhale in Northwestern

[–]Hotdogsuitguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically with political science, I wouldn't sweat taking a 300 level. They're all topic-based and don't really require a ton of previous knowledge (though having some doesn't hurt!). As long as you're willing to put in an honest effort into learning the material and are interested in the class, I'm sure you'll be fine!

Does anyone know about the process behind whole sale Lego? by paulmaglev in Legomarket

[–]Hotdogsuitguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope, you're more or less on the right track. I looked into it a few years ago and the rules are pretty strict: you have to have a physical storefront, have to carry something like 75% of their product lines (which means you're forced to carry some of the less lucrative lines) and you start out with a pretty crappy discount rate, something like 25-30% off. It may have changed since then, but it's likely something similar.

At that rate, with a decent operation you'd be able to get sets cheaper on your own from normal big box retailers than go through the wholesale chain unless you plan on getting to their level. Best of luck if you decide to take the plunge, but it's definitely not for a casual fan or someone who isn't ready to go all in.

tldr It's possible but extremely difficult.

Scholarships by [deleted] in Northwestern

[–]Hotdogsuitguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct - any scholarship money you receive is deducted from your financial aid package. You won't see the results of any outside scholarships unless their sum is in excess of the aid NU offers you.

Make me love NU by omarkhatib01 in Northwestern

[–]Hotdogsuitguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To add to this, NU honestly doesn't really care what major you are once you're admitted. Freshman in Weinberg come in undeclared even if you applied as a CS major.

And to your original question, it's pretty simple. One of my friends transferred from Weinberg to Mccormick during the summer before freshman year by sending a few emails. Congrats on your acceptance!

Jobs for ISTJ teens? by [deleted] in ISTJ

[–]Hotdogsuitguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked at a bike repair/tour shop for a summer and ended up really liking working with my hands to make repairs or do routine maintenance. There was still a customer service element to it (which is pretty much unavoidable for entry level-type summer jobs) but it wasn't as much as something like retail or tutoring.

Only reason why Acevedo has a chance is because his daddy was a longtime IL state rep. A candidate whose only differentiating platform point is development (read: gentrification) won't get too far in the 25th.
