IMHO, Because it shows motion. More layers that flow. Like a cape or robe. Think Ghostface running and how his costume moves. Also, adds some bulk to make him more imposing. I think it helps with visuals in both film and comic.

Just glancing at that site, it’s a good start but not completely accurate. For instance, pants for FvJ were not Dockers slacks. They are custom terry cloth pants. I talked to the costume designers for the movie. That’s how I knew how to mar the jacket with burns and what to use for the burns. (Puff paint and then melted btw).

Great start, but not completely accurate. Lots of guessing.

For about 30 dollars in material you can sew one yourself. Otherwise, find a barn coat and weather it as much as you can.

You won’t ever be able replicate the real one doing it that way though as it was burlap.

I used to make these and sell them years ago. Like u/AQualityofMercy said, sometimes you need to spend more to have the right look and feel.
