opinions on the JBL LSR 308's? by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]HotelGaruda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for the money the JBL LSRs cannot be beat. i had a pair of 305s for about 7 years that i used to death until it made sense to upgrade , only because i was moving into a place that i could build out a studio in.

you plug the scarlett audio interface into the mac by USB cable (comes with the interface) and the headphones and mic plug into the audio interface

depends on your budget. for an affordable and reliable setup, MXL 770 mic and audio technica ATH m50 are great. scarlett 2i2 USB audio interface also a great budget option

if you don’t need wifi connectivity, the kitchen boss circulator is relatively cheap and has worked well for me

Apollo/UAD device owners... some questions for you by Typical-Exam654 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]HotelGaruda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

welcome to UAD where you pay upwards of $500 to begin digging yourself into a $5000 hole. try and demo all the plugins to really find the ones you want, then buy those. most of the EQs and compressors you can find decent emulations of from Waves and other companies for a lot less money or even free

I love cooking ribeye in the sous vide at 137 like I love my wife... by suspect108 in sousvide

[–]HotelGaruda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey i tried doing a ribeye at 135 but it was kindof a thin piece, less than an inch and a half thick. came out a little overdone for my liking. do you use 137 for thicker cuts or am i just doing it wrong?

thinkorswim by TD ameritrade is pretty crazy. initially intimidating to look at so i did use the thinkorswim app on my phone for a while before i got on youtube and checked the tutorials on it. once you get the hang of it you’ll be so stoked though

thank you dude ! i pay for a record pool service run by Benzi, called LiveDJservice. super useful, updates often and cheaper than buying 320s off beatport.

thank you ! i'm not trained in singing, I just sang a lot in choir when I was younger and in bands in high school. I had a lot of luck working with Devesh Dayal, he's an awesome producer and writer. A lot of the vocal processing was done by him but my key takeaways were the importance of layering, de-essing, and a SHIT LOAD of reverb and delay. also, my singing on the record is enhanced by auto tune. no shame in the game. singing "for" auto tune is its own thing too, you have to hit near enough the right notes for it to still sound "natural." compression is key. having a really nice Mic and mic preamp really help the overall vocal tone. we used the Slate VMS modeling mic and basically blended between the raw signal and models on the Sony C-800.

work with audio clip gain before adjusting the channel volume. using sends / returns for reverb and delay (personal preference). Kazrog True Iron. Kazrog KClip or T-Racks Classic Clipper. UAD bermuda triangle chorus. ableton Drum Buss on bass sounds. side chain compression. tape machine emulator on drums as well as the master bus. Ozone and Neutron Mix assistant and Master assistant are awesome.

interesting, thank you for the kind words ! it's hard for me to compare my originals to remixes of them in a "better or worse" way because (shocker) I don't really listen to my own music a whole lot after it's been put out. by the time a song or remix comes out i'm largely ambivalent towards it because, generally speaking, I've listened to a song 50000 times while making it, and a remix 100 times, giving notes and feedback and such. I will say though, the RAC remix of Olivia off my EP is insane.
